FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 92-53, for its sixth straight win of the season. With the win the Owls improved to 8-3 on the season and 5-1 in the American Midwest Conference.
Kailey Morris led the Owls with 21 points on the game as she was 7-for-11 on three pointers on the contest.
Bailey Rollins followed with 11 points to round out the double-figure scorers.
Kennedy Volkart led the Owls with seven rebounds.
WWU returns to action on Saturday, December 31st when they host Park University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
Game Flow
The Owls scored the first five points of the contest and never looked back as
Kaycee Gerald put the Owls ahead 5-0 with a three-pointer. After Gerald's three-pointer, the Owls only scored five more points in the first quarter, however, after the first quarter of action the Owls led, 10-4.
WWU's offense got going in the second quarter as over the first three and a half minutes of action, the Owls went on an 11-3 run extending their lead to 21-7 after an
April Gebke three-pointer. The Owls defense continued to stop the Eutectics as the Owls went on a 14-0 run extending the lead to 26 points after a layup by Gebke. The Owls and Eutectics traded buckets over the last minute of the half, and the Owls took a 42-16 lead into halftime.
William Woods continued to extend its lead in the second half as they grew the lead to 30 points, 48-18, after a layup by
Jasmine Brown. The lead grew to 39 points, 57-18, with 3:17 left in the third quarter after a
Jess Schmidt jumper. The Owls grew the lead to as many as 41 points in the third quarter after a
Tiffany Rhame three-pointer. The Owls lead went down to 39 points, 66-27, after three quarters of play.
St. Louis Pharmacy offense started to click in the fourth quarter as they scored 26 points in the fourth quarter, but they could not stop the Owls who also scored 26 points. A three-pointer by Morris put the Owls ahead, 69-29 early in the fourth quarter. Leading by 40, the Eutectics tried to claw back and got the led down to 33 points but that would be as close as Pharmacy would get as the Owls would come away with a 92-53 victory over Pharmacy on Thursday.
