BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The William Woods University Softball team was swept by Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. The Owls dropped a heartbreaker in game one, 1-0, before falling 4-1, in game two.

Game One
Game FlowAllison Waskow and Jenna Daniels locked up in a pitcher's duel in game one as neither one let the offenses get anything going in the contest. William Woods collected both of their hits in the first four innings of the contest but could not get anything going.

Waskow kept the Eagles off balance as she did not allow the Eagles to collect a hit until the bottom of the fifth inning. An inning later, Oklahoma Wesleyan broke the scoreless tie as Michaela Shouldis singled to left and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. Shouldis came around to score on a Britney Howard single putting the Eagles ahead, 1-0.

The Owls did not get anything going in the top of the seventh inning as they went down in order and dropped game one, 1-0.

Game Two
Game FlowHannah Campbell led game two off by getting hit by a pitch. Once she got on, she stole second base and advanced to third on a ground out. However, Campbell was stranded on third.

The Eagles jumped on the Owls starter in the bottom of the first inning. Taking advantage of an Owls error and some timely hitting, Oklahoma Wesleyan put up four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Katelyn Cook came up big with a two run RBI single in the frame.

William Woods looked as if they would start answering back in the top of the second inning.
Amanda Bouchey reached on an error and
Hillary Hentges singled to right field putting two runners on base. However, the Owls could not get a run across the plate and left two stranded on base.

The Owls looked as if they would get a run across the plate in the top of the third, as Campbell singled to center to start the inning. With back-to-back groundouts, Campbell stood on third base with two otus.
Emily Murphy and Bouchey drew back to back walks loading the bases. The next Owl up lined out to center ending the inning.

Logan set the Eagles down in order in the bottom of the third inning and heading to the fourth the Owls trailed, 4-0.

In the top of the fourth, William Woods scored its first run of the day. With the bases loaded and two outs,
Brailee Schulte singled to center scoring one and keeping the bases load. Like the inning before, the Owls left the bases loaded as the next hitter was retired. After three and a half innings of play, the Owls trailed, 4-1.

Logan continued to keep the Eagles off balance at the plate as Oklahoma Wesleyan only collected two hits after the first inning.

The Owls offense did not threaten again until the top of the seventh inning. With one out, the Owls loaded the bases. However, the next two Owls were retired and William Woods dropped game two, 4-1.
