HANNIBAL, Mo. - A game-high 22 points and nine rebounds from
Kevin House wasn't enough, as William Woods lost a tough American Midwest Conference contest to Hannibal-LaGrange University, 78-72. The Owls shot 40 percent from the floor in the contest.
Deon Pettigrew added 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor for the Owls (15-9, 11-5 AMC), with
Austin Lowery rounding out the double figure scorers with 11 points, however WWU shot just 40-percent from the floor in the loss.
Game FlowThe Owls scored the first five points of the contest, however, the Trojans (5-14, 4-11) responded with a 10-0 run, taking a five-point lead after a Tim Pace 3-pointer, pushing the lead to 20-10 with nine minutes remaining in the half.
WWU answered with an 8-0 run to cut the margin to two and settled for a 35-29 deficit at the break.
The hosts broke away early in the second half, as a Brandon Eschenbach jumper extended the lead to 45-31. The Owls did not quit, as a House triple capped a 15-3 surge that got WWU within 48-46 - but could not get closer.
