LINDSBORG, Kan. – The William Woods University Men's Soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Bethany (Kan.) College on Saturday afternoon.

Bridger Pretz scored the game winning goal with just under 27 minutes to go in the game. The Owls registered five shots on goal to the Swedes four. The game-winning-goal can be found at the bottom of the story.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, August 31st when they play their home opener at Firley Field against Graceland (Iowa). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Game Flow
The Owls fell behind early in the contest as the Swedes scored within the first three minutes of the game. Alex Clark put Bethany ahead, 1-0, as he took a pass from Frank Barry and beat
Conor Cable for a goal.
WWU looked to answer back five minutes later as
Rodrigo Alves fired a shot on goal by Jose Sanchez recorded the save. Bethany continued to attack early in the first half, as the Owls blocked one shot and the Swedes missed a shot high.
William Woods tied the game at 1-1 with 22:57 left in the first half. Alves found
Matheus Schmid, who beat Sanchez and tied the game. This was Schmid's first goal of the season. The game went into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Owls looked to break the tie early in the second half, as Brett Hodge fired a shot but missed high. WWU broke the tie with 27 minutes' left in the contest, as
Victor Faure took a corner-kick on goal and the Owls controlled by
Liam Shaughnessy sent a cross into the box, where
Bridger Pretz beat Sanchez with a header putting the Owls ahead 2-1.
Five minutes later, Cable came up huge to keep the Owls ahead, 2-1, as he recorded a save on a shot by Jaiden Van Der Heijden. The Swedes kept the offensive attack on as Lucas Muckley fired a shot and Cable came up with another save.
With just under 10 minutes left in the contest, Andre Barbosa fired a shot and Cable recorded the save to keep the Owls ahead, 2-1. The Swedes did not record another shot for the game and the Owls came away with a 2-1 victory for its second win of the season.
