Men’s Soccer Stays Unbeaten in AMC Play with 7-1 Win

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team stayed unbeaten in American Midwest Conference action with a 7-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman University on Senior Day at Firley Field. The Owls improved to 9-0-1 in AMC play.
 
Anthony Moscatello and Rodrigo Alves scored two goals each for the Owls as they had five different player score in the contest. WWU had 14 shots on goal in the contest, resulting in seven goals, the most scored in a single game by the Owls.
 
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, October 25th when they travel to Parkville, Missouri to face Park University. This will be the Owls last regular season contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
Game Flow
WWU came out scoring early in the contest as they scored 25 seconds into the match. Victor Faure found Anthony Moscatello who scored his first goal of the contest putting the Owls ahead, 1-0. Thirty seconds later, the Owls found themselves ahead 2-0 after Matheus Schmid found David Marshall, who scored.
 
Following the Owls goals, Freed-Hardeman's Kenneth Ramirez and Jose Andrada had two shots on goal but Conor Cable recorded the saves.
 
The Owls offense continued to pressure the Lions defense as they had seven more shots that went wide or high of goal. WWU found the back of the net for a third goal when Conor Cable sent a ball down the field, Rodrigo Alves controlled it and found Pedro Ferro who put the ball past the Lions goalie in the upper right corner of the goal.
 
WWU was not done scoring in the first half as Moscatello found Alves who scored putting the Owls ahead 4-0, with 15:18 left in the first half. Just over a minute later, Alves was taking down in the box and award a penalty kick. Alves scored and put the Owls ahead 5-0. WWU's Joshua Noel grew the lead to 6-0 with 10:23 left in the first half with a goal.
 
After taking a 6-0 lead the Owls still had good scoring chances as Victor Faure had a shot hit the post and Alves and Marshall had shots saved by Brown. WWU led 6-0 at halftime.
 
The Owls grew its lead to seven in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Moscatello found a loose ball at the top left corner of the box and he sent a shot to the upper right corner of goal and beat Brown for his second goal of the night.
 
Four minutes after Moscatello's second goal, Alves had a shot that went off the post.
 
Freed-Hardeman got onto the scoreboard with 26:36 left in the contest. WWU was called for a foul in the box and Freed-Hardeman was award a penalty kick. George Achard took the kick and beat Cable cutting the Owls lead down to six, 7-1.
 
The Lions Achard had another shot on goal that was saved by Cable, with 12:25 left in the contest. This was Freed-Hardeman's last shot on goal.
 
The Owls came away with a 7-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman on Senior Day. The win improves the Owls to 12-2-3 overall and 9-0-1 in the AMC.
