ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team ran its winning streak to eight games with a 6-0 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Owls improved to 9-2-2 on the season and 6-0 in AMC play. The Owls had four different goal scores in the contest. WWU outshot the Eutectics 29-2 in the contest. Owls goalie,
Conor Cable, recorded one save and collected his sixth straight shutout.
WWU returns to action on Tuesday, October 10th when they host No. 21 Columbia College at Firley Field. The Owls and Cougars game on Tuesday is the AMC Game of the Week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Game Flow
WWU looked to get the scoring going early in the contest, as
Rodrigo Alves had a shot that went high of goal two minute into the contest. That was the lone shot until 36:29 left in the first half, as
Anthony Moscatello found
Darren Wilson for a goal. This put the Owls ahead, 1-0.
After Wilsons goal, the Owls offense continued to attack as
Stefan Simic had a shot go wide and another one saved.
Roberto Duro Sanchez and Alves had a shot saved by Pedro Salgueiro, keeping the game at 1-0.
With 16:46 left in the first half, the Owls added its second goal of the match.
Joshua Noel found Alves, who beat Salgueiro for his first goal of the contest. Alves' goal put the Owls ahead, 2-0. Pharmacy had its lone shot on goal come with 6:57 left in the half as Adis Sahbaz took a shot that Cable made the save on.
WWU grew its lead to 3-0 late in the first half.
Matheus Schmid was taking down in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Schmid scored and the Owls led 3-0, which would be the halftime score.
The Owls added to its lead early in the second half, as Wilson fould Alves who scored his second goal of the contest putting the Owls ahead, 4-0. Two and a half minutes later, Avles scored his third goal of the contest when Joshua Clark found Alves and Alves scored putting WWU ahead, 5-0.
William Woods scored one more goal in the contest when
Logan Christopher scored with 10:23 left in the game putting the Owls head 6-0.
WWU defeated the Eutectics 6-0 en route to its eighth straight victory.
