FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team dropped its second straight match on Wednesday evening when No. 9 Park University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20).

Abby Ferguson and Tory Wiley led the Owls with seven kills in the match. Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 24 assists in the match. WWU had a hitting percentage of .045 in the match.

WWU returns to action on Friday, November 3rd when they host Lincoln Christian University in a non-conference action. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The Owls will honor its 2017 senior class.

Game Flow
In the first set, the Owls took the first lead and the Pirates would quickly catch up tying the match at 4-4. The Owls would then add kills from Abby Ferguson and Kate Doerhoff to take a one-point lead, 7-6. The set would then go back and forth until the Pirates would take a three-point lead, 13-10, after two kills and a block by Nada Meawad and Danna Gomes. The Owls would slowly fight back as Ferguson added another kill, but the Owls still trailed by three, 16-13. The Owls would add two more points in the set, but the Pirates would have a late run scoring six, before finally finishing the match, 25-15.

The second set started out with the Pirates scoring three right out the gate. The Owls would come back with back to back kills form Tory Wiley and Kira Krebill putting the lead down to one, 3-2. The set would bounce between the teams, with the Pirates keeping the small lead by a few points. The Owls cut the lead and tied the set after a kill by Krebill and Ferguson, 13-13. The Pirates added two, as the Owls add one, and the Owls trailed 15-14. The Owls would then find themselves behind five-points as the Pirates ran away with the lead, 20-14. The Owls would be able to sneak one more kill in by Rayleen Rivera before the Pirates took set two, 25-16.

Both teams would fight for the lead in the third set, going point for point before the Owls took a three-point lead, 6-3, after a kill by Rivera and Pirate mishaps. That lead would not last long as the Pirates tied the set, but the Owls responded and a kill by Ferguson and a block by Engelbrecht and Krebill, the Owls had a two-point lead, 8-6. The set then went back and forth as both teams fought for possession. After three straight kills from the Pirate offense, the Owls found themselves down 15-12. That lead was quickly cut to one, 15-14, as Rivera and Wiley added back to back kills. The Pirates, under the service of Santos, would run away with a five-point lead, 19-14. The Owls slowly cut the lead after adding kills from Wiley and Krebill, 19-16. Kills by Wiley would keep the Owls going as they trailed 22-18. Kate Doerhoff would give the Owls their last kill of the match as the Pirates took the set and match, 25-20.
