Men’s Soccer Prepares For First NAIA National Championship Appearance

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team prepares for its first ever NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship appearance on Saturday, November 18th when they travel to Columbia, Kentucky to face seventh seed Lindsey Wilson College. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
 
This will be the second ever matchup between the Blue Raiders and the Owls. They previously met on September 17, 1999.
 
About the Owls
- The Owls enter the Opening Round with a record of 13-3-3 on the season. WWU's 13 wins is a school record
- William Woods ranks 14th in the nation in shutouts on the season with nine. All nine shutouts have been recorded by Conor Cable
- WWU is averaging 18.9 shots per game, which is 16th most in the NAIA
- Rodrigo Alves led the Owls with 13 goals on the season. His 13 goals also led the American Midwest Conference
- Darren Wilson ranks 34th in the nation in game-winning-goals as he has four on the season
- Conor Cable ranks 23rd in the nation in goals against average (0.840)
- WWU has 43 assists on the season, which is 22nd best in the NAIA
- William Woods scored 44 goals on the season and the Owls had three players score seven or more goals
- Cable leads the Owls in minutes played and has only allowed 14 goals this season. He has recorded 51 saves on the season
- Wilson leads the Owls with six assists on the season. Victor Faure and Anthony Moscatello follow with five assists each
- WWU has outshot its opponents 360 to 204 on the season. They have also outshot its opponents 167 to 82 on shots on goal
 
About the Blue Raiders
- Lindsey Wilson enters the postseason with a record of 13-3 on the season
- They are making its 24th appearance in the National Championship and hold a record of 51-13-6 in the National Championship. They have also won nine championships with its last coming in 2015
- The Blue Raiders are coming off a 2-1 loss to Cumberland (Tenn.) in the Mid-South Championship final on November 10th
- Lindsey Wilson has not lost back-to-back games this season

The winner of the Owls and Blue Raiders advances to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Final site, in Delray Beach, Florida. The winner will face the winner of the Marymount and Westmont contest on Tuesday, November 28
