Women’s Soccer Hosts Lyon in AMC Quarterfinals

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team opens the AMC Tournament hosting seventh seed Lyon College on Friday, November 3rd at Firley Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Owls are the two seed in the AMC tournament while the Scots are the seventh seed. Owl fans, remember come to "Fill the Hill" for the AMC Quarterfinal Matchup. Admission for Friday's game is Free. Also, bring your appetite, as MoJo's BBQ and Grill will be in attendance.
 
About the Owls
- The Owls enter the contest with an overall record of 12-4-2 and finished the AMC with a record of 9-1-2
- William Woods is 7-8-1 in the AMC Tournament with winning one Championship
- WWU is coming off a 2-2 draw with Park University on October 25th
- Shelby Scanlan leads the Owls offensive attack as she ranks in the top 25 in multiple categories. She is 18th in goals (19), 22nd in game-winning-goals (5), 23rd in points (41) and 24th in goals per game (1.06)
- As a team, the Owls have recorded 10 shutouts on the season, which is the 17th best mark in the nation
- WWU has dished out 48 assists on the season, which is the 16th most in the nation
- Aurora Henriksen ranks 44th in the nation in points and assists. She has 34 points this season and has 8 assists

- Lyon enters the AMC Tournament with a record of 5-10-1 on the season and they finished 5-7 in the AMC
- The Scots are coming off a 13-0 loss to Columbia College on October 28th
- Lyon has lost its last two regular season contests
- The Scots enter the AMC tournament with a tournament record of 2-5
- Joyce Barbosa leads the Scots in goals on the year with 13. She also leads in assists with five, shots (73) and shots on goal (37)
- Lyon is allowing 3.31 goals per game which is 26th in the nation
- Claire Coley is the Scots goalie as she appeared and started in 15 games this season. She recorded 65 saves and has three shutouts on the season
- The Scots have outshot its opponents by 42 shots on the season. They have recorded 239 shots and have held opponents to 197 shots
 
Previous Matchup
- The Scots and Owls met on October 14th at Firley Field and the Owls came away with a 5-0 victory
- Claire Stark scored two goals for the Owls in the contest and Shelby Scanlan, Auoroa Henriksen and Jenna Vogt each added one
- WWU outshot the Scots 18-6 in the match; including 12-1 in the second half

The winner of the Owls and Scots contest play the winner of the No. 3 seed Park University and No. 6 seed Missouri Baptist University contest on Monday, November 6th.
