Men’s Basketball Scores Season-High 99 Points in Victory Over Pharmacy

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University men's basketball team scored a season-high 99 points as the Owls ran away with an American Midwest Conference contest victory on Thursday evening. The Owls defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 99-40.
 
The Owls had five players score in double-figures in the contest. Torin Washington led the Owls with 14 points in the contest on 7-of-8 shooting. Miguel Hudson followed with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Trey Mitchell, Brandon Vice and DaShaun Stark followed with 12 points apiece. Darrien Dicky led the Owls with nine rebound in the contest.  WWU shot 58 percent from the floor in the contest.
 
WWU returns to action on Saturday, February 11th when they travel to Parkville, Missouri to face Park University in American Midwest Conference action. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. WWU and Park game is the AMC Game of the Week.
 
Game Flow
William Woods offense came out struggling to score early in the contest, however, the Owls led the Eutectics, 6-5, after a Trey Mitchell jumper in the paint. A jumper by Caleb Gulick put Pharmacy ahead, 7-6. WWU answered right back and a jumper by Torin Washington put the Owls back on top 8-7.
 
After Washington's jumper, William Woods grew its lead to 16-7 after a Klayton Kuschel jumper in the paint. William Woods continued to extend its lead to as many as 16 points, 25-9, after four straight points by Brandon Vice.
 
After a Mahde Shawahin jumper put the Eutectics down, 15, 27-12, WWU answered with a 18-3 run taking a 45-15 lead. The run was capped by a Mitchell jumper in the paint with three minutes to go in the first half. After trading a couple of baskets, the Owls took a 29-point lead, 49-20, into halftime. In the first half, the Owls shot 57 percent from the floor.
 
WWU came out in the second half, opening the half on a 20-3 run. During the first four-minute stretch, the Owls had five different Owls score and after the run the Owls led 69-23, with 13:31 left in the half. Washington led the Owls during the run with six points.
 
The Owls continued to build its lead and after a jumper by DaShaun Stark jumper in the paint, the Owls led was stretched to 48, 76-28, with 10:15 to go in the second half. William Woods continued to extend its lead as they found themselves ahead by 60, 88-28, after a Brandon Vice jumper.
 
After Pharmacy trimmed the lead down to 56 points, 92-36, WWU stretched the lead to 61 points, 97-36, after a jumper in the paint by Miguel Hudson. Hudson hit one more jumper in the game giving the Owls 99 points, the most points they have scored in a single game this season. WWU came away with a 99-40 victory over Pharmacy.
