ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team won its fifth straight contest on Thursday evening when they defeated St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 74-41, in American Midwest Conference action.
Peyton Greenlee led the Owls with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Jasmine Brown rounded out the double-figure scores for the Owls with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. WWU hit 11 three pointers in the victory.
WWU returns to action on Saturday, February 11th when they travel to Parkville, Missouri to face Park University in American Midwest Conference action. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
Game Flow
St. Louis College of Pharmacy score the first basket of the night, but, WWU answered back by scoring the next 15 points of the quarter taking a 15-2 lead. During that stretch, William Woods held Pharmacy scoreless for a seven-minute stretch.
Peyton Greenlee capped the stretch off by scoring the last 11 points for the Owls. Pharmacy closed out the quarter on an 8-2 run and after one quarter of play, the Owls led 17-10.
William Woods pulled away from the Eutectics in the second quarter, as they outscored Pharmacy, 25-4, in the second quarter. WWU opened the quarter on a 23-0 in the quarter. WWU did not allow the Eutectics to score for the first nine minutes of the quarter. A jumper by
Jess Schmidt hit a jumper at 26 seconds in the half putting WWU ahead, 42-14, into halftime.
WWU continued to hold a lead and after a
Kailey Morris three-pointer, the Owls found themselves ahead 45-16, with 8:48 left in the third quarter. Later in the third quarter the Owls grew its lead to 33 points, 53-20, after a Kenda Vaughan jumper. The Owls continued to control the contest and jumper by
Katharyn Nolan put the Owls ahead, 55-24. WWU held a 58-28 after three quarters of play.
St. Louis Pharmacy came out and scored the first five points of the fourth quarter, capped by Gabrielle Morgan's three pointers. Both teams continued to trade buckets and after a
Bekah Joos three-pointer, the Owls led 63-37. Later in the quarter,
Tiffany Rhame hit a three-pointer putting the Owls ahead by 30, 69-39. William Woods came away with a 74-41, victory over St. Louis Pharmacy for its fifth straight victory.
