Game Flow

Allison Waskow kept the Lyon Scots bats quiet for most of the game but she ran into a little trouble in the first. She gave up two hits in the inning but recorded three strikeouts to leave two runners on base keep the Scots off the board.

Hannah Campbell sparked the Owls offense in the bottom of the first inning when she tripled and then scored on a wild throw by Lyon and the Owls took a 1-0 lead. After Campbell, the Owls did not get anything going in the first.

The bottom of the second was much like déjà vu when Amanda Bouchey hit a triple of her own to start off the winning for the Owls. With one out Ali Massey hit a sacrifice fly to add to the Owls score, and growing WWU's lead to 2-0.

After the first inning Waskow did not let the Scots get anything going as she only allowed two more hits for the contest. One hit came in the third inning as Waskow walked one and then a single by Katelyn Thomason. However, Waskow worked out of that by getting the next hitter to ground out to end the inning.

WWU looked for an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning when Ari Arnold singled to lead off the inning. After a sacrifice bunt moved her to send the next two Owls were retired and the Owls lead stayed at 2-0.

Waskow did not let the scots get anything going in the sixth or seventh inning as she recorded two strikeouts and kept the Scots off the board. William Woods took game one, 2-0.

Game Two
Game Flow

Owls pitching continued to dominate early in game two as Madison Ausfahl got the Scots out in order in the top of the first inning.

The Owls offense got things started with a bunt single by Campbell. After stealing second base, Campbell moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. With a runner on third and one out, Alli Massey singled up the middle putting the Owls ahead, 1-0.

Like the first inning, Asufahl kept the Lyon bats quiet as she sat the team down in order again in the second inning with a pop out, fly out and strike out.

The Owls would score again in the second inning when Ari Arnold hit a leadoff single and perfect execution on a sacrifice bunt by Lindsay Van Tress would put Arnold in scoring position. Brailee Schulte would then switch places with Arnold, as she smacked a double down the right field line, putting WWU ahead 2-0.

Lyon would get to Asufahl in the third inning when Kaitlyn Guevara singled to lead off the inning. After a sacrifice bunt moved her to second. The Scots would load the bases for Katelyn Thomason and she singled home one and the Scots tried to score a second but Kacy Perkins was thrown out at the plate by Schulte in right field. The Owls would hold a 2-1 after two and a half innings of play.

The offenses went quiet until the top of the seventh inning when the Scots scored a run to force extra innings. Pinch hitter Lexi Reyes singled home the tying run.

The game would go to the eighth inning tied at 2-2 and the Scots could not get anything going off Owls reliever Sierra Jacques as they were retied in order.

In the bottom of the inning, Beth Begemann started the offense with a single. Bouchey laid down a sacrifice bunt advancing Begemann to scoring position. Arnold would then find a gap in right center, claiming the game hit as it scored Begemman and the Owls took game two, 3-2.
