CANTON, Mo. – The William Woods University baseball team defeated Culver-Stockton College in an offensive slugfest, 13-11, on Tuesday afternoon at Nichols Field. WWU scored 13 runs on 17 hits in the contest.

Leading the owls was
Nolan Aherin who was four-for-six on the contest.
Konrad Kemper drove in three runs in the contest to lead the Owls.
Bret Harris picked up the win for the contest for the Owls.

The Owls return to action on Thursday, April 27th when they host Lindenwood University – Belleville in a doubleheader. First-pitch is set for 4 p.m. Â

Game Flow
Culver-Stockton jumped on Owls starter
Dany Paradis-Giroux in the bottom of the first inning. The Wildcats collected five hits in the inning which led to four runs in the inning. WWU found themselves down 4-0.

WWU started making a comeback in the top of the second inning. With two outs and the bases loaded,
Patrick Dillon singled through the right side scoring two, putting the Owls down two, 4-2. The Owls scored another run in the top of the third inning, when
Jansen Smith hit a sacrifice fly putting the Owls down 4-3.

Culver-Stockton grew the lead back to two, 5-3, in the bottom of the third inning. William Woods bounced back tying the contest in the top of fourth.

Nolan Aherin recorded RBI singles in the inning tying the game.

The Wildcats came back tying the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Culver-Stockton came back and scored three runs in the inning on three hits taking an 8-5 lead.

WWU continued to battle at the plate as they scored two runs in the fifth. With two outs and a runner on, Kemper hit a homerun over the left field fence putting the Owls down one, 8-7. Culver-Stockton again grew its lead to 11-7 after the fifth inning.

WWU came back tying the game in the sixth inning, as they scored four runs on five hits in the inning.
Tyler Cunningham,
Ryan Phillips, and Kemper recorded an RBI single and
Neal Aherin picked up an RBI on a ground out and the Owls tied the game at 11-11.

The Owls bullpen came up big in the contest as they held the Wildcats scoreless over the last four innings of the contest. WWU took the lead in the top of the seventh inning of the contest. With runners on second and third, Dillon scored on a wild pitch putting the Owls ahead, 12-11.

William Woods grew its lead to 13-11 in the top of the ninth.
Nolan Aherin laid down a bunt that scored
Neal Aherin. The Owls bullpen continued to shut down the Wildcats as
Ryan Furtney retired the Wildcats in order and the Owls came away with a 13-11 victory.
