BELLEVUE, Neb.— The William Woods University Volleyball team picked up two wins on day two of the Premier Labor Day Classic. The Owls picked up two wins against Tabor College, 3-0 (25-19,25-16,25-18) and No. 17 University of Jamestown 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23).
The Owls return to action on Tuesday, September 5th when they open up its home schedule by hosting Haskell Indian Nations University. Match is set to start at 7 p.m.

The Owls took control over set one as they took advantage of Tabor mishaps. A service run by
Kameryn Bellinger would give the Owls a lead of four, 8-4. The Owls would continue to keep their lead as
Tory Wiley,
Kira Krebill,
Abby Ferguson, and
Brittney Engelbrecht added kills of their own taking a 14-10 lead. The Owls continued to hold a four-point lead throughout the set with
Rayleen Rivera adding a kill of her own, 21-16. WWU would add kills from Wiley and Ferguson to take the first set, 25-19.
The Owls carried their energy into the next set as they took a quick three-point lead under the serve of
Jessica Jensen. Rivera would add back to back kills to keep Tabor at bay, with the Owls leading 12-7. The Owls would keep a five-point cushion as they pushed on in the set. Another service run by Jensen would give the Owls a seven-point lead, 19-11. Tabor would score five more points before the Owls ran away with set two, 25-16.
Tabor would run away with the first nine of the eleven points of the third set, 9-2. The Owls would chip away at the lead adding kills by Rivera, Krebill and Doerhoff until the set score was tied at 12. The set would be tied twice until the Owls ran away with a service run by
Kayton Coffee, giving the Owls a lead of three, 21-18. All three points would be from Owl kills by Ferguson, Rivera, and Ferguson. The Owls were able to come out with the win after a kill by Krebill, 25-19.

The Owls came out swinging against the Jimmies as their first two points were from kills by Wiley and Ferguson, 2-1. The Owls would hold onto a three-point lead as the Jimmies continued to chip away at the Owl lead. Jensen would add an ace, giving the Owls an 8-6 lead. The two teams would battle kill for kill until the Owls had another three-point lead after a kill by Rivera, 15-12. WWU would hold Jamestown to 19 points until a kill by Engelbrecht would seal the first set, 25-19.
The second set was dominated by the Owls with a lead over the Jimmies, 8-6, after a kill by Krebill from Engelbrecht. The Jimmies were able to cut the lead and eventually tie the set at 10-10, but a kill from
Tory Wiley would take the Owls back into the lead they needed, 12-10. The set would go point for point until the Owls found themselves with a three-point lead and a kill by Krebill would set the Owls at a four-point lead, 19-15. Jamestown would threaten late in the set as they cut the lead to three, but the Owls were able to push through and take set two, 25-20.
The third set would be intense as the first sixteen points were evenly split between the Owls and the Jimmies. The Jimmies would take a four-point lead, 11-7. The Owls would slowly chip away, but the Jimmies would hold a consistent lead until a kill by
Abby Ferguson and
Rayleen Rivera would break the streak and the Owls would take the lead, 19-18. The last six points would be the most stressful for both teams, as the Owls and the Jimmies battled until the very end. A kill by Wiley would give the Owls the set and match, 25-23.
