FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team won its tenth straight contest with a sweep of Central Baptist College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-15), on Friday evening at Anderson Arena.

Tory Wiley led the Owls with nine kills in the match.
Abby Ferguson and
Rayleen Rivera followed with eight kills each.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out a game-high 24 assists.
Melanie Kala led the Owls 10 digs in the match.

The Owls return to action on Saturday, September 23 when they host Lyon College. This is the AMC Game of the Week. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Game Flow
The first set went point for point as both teams came out the gate with intensity. It was not long until the Owls ran away with a four-point lead with a service run by
Jessica Jensen and
Kayton Coffee, 8-4. The Owls would then take off on an eight-point lead with
Brooke Reed serving and a kill by
Kira Krebill, 14-6. The Mustangs would add three more points before the Owls would add a kill by
Sydney Bullock,
Abby Ferguson, and a service ace to finish off set one, 25-9.
The second set would go back and forth until the Mustangs took the lead, 5-4. The Owls then tied up the set at 6-6, before they caught some momentum and added a three-point lead under the serve of Reed, 11-8. The Mustangs would continue to fight their way until they took the lead once more, 23-22. The Owls would fight on through and a kill by Wiley would wrap up the second set for the Owls, 25-23.
The Owls carried their energy into the third set when they got the ball rolling when
Melanie Kala went on a nine-point service run. In that run Wiley,
Kate Doerhoff, and
Jaclyn Zahn would all add kills of their own, 12-3. The Mustangs would add seven to their score, 20-10. The Owls then worked to finish off the set, but not before the Mustangs added five points, 25-15.
