FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team extended its winning streak to 11 games with a sweep 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-15) over Lyon College on Saturday afternoon in the American Midwest Conference game of the Week.

Rayleen Rivera led the Owls with 13 kills, while
Kate Doerhoff followed with nine kills.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out a game-high 30 assists in the match. WWU had four aces in the contest.
Jessica Jensen collected a game-high 16 digs.

The Owls return to action on Thursday, September 28th when they travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to face AMC foe Williams Baptist College. The start time is set for 7 p.m.

Game Flow
William Woods acme out and took an early three-point lead, 4-1, with kills from
Kate Doerhoff and
Tory Wiley. The Scots would chip away at Owls lead until they tied the match at 7-7. A service run by
Kameryn Bellinger gave the Owls another lead,
Rayleen Rivera and Abby Fergusen adding kills of their own putting the Owls ahead 10-8. The Scots would tie it up two more times before the Owls went on a four-point run under the service of
Brooke Reed, 25-21.
The Scots would take the lead in set two with the Owls trailing by three, 4-1. The Owls would cut the lead down to two before the Scots would run away with a five-point lead putting Lyon ahead, 10-5. With their work cut out for them, WWU slowly chipped away adding kills by Rivera,
Kira Krebill, and Wiley, putting the Owls down, 14-13. It was not until a service run by
Jessica Jensen when the Owls took a four-point lead, 19-14. The Scots would score five more points before the Owls ended taking set two with a kill by
Brittney Engelbrecht, 25-19.
Set three would go point for point until the Scots ran away with an early lead, 7-3. The Owls chipped away and under the service of Bellinger, the Owls took the lead, 14-8. In that run, Bellinger had three aces and Rivera would add three kills. The Scots fought their way back cutting the lead down to four, 18-14. The Scots added one more point before Wiley added the last three kills of the set, 25-15.
