Men’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Five Games

CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University men's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory over Central Baptist College in American Midwest Conference action.
 
Stefan Simic led the Owls in the contest as he had two goals and assisted on another. Darren Wilson added the third goal for the Owls. Conor Cable recorded two saves to earn the shutout. WWU outshot the Mustangs, 16-5.
 
The Owls return to action on Monday, September 25th when they travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to face Williams Baptist College. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
 
Game Flow
WWU got the first shot of the contest when Stefan Simic sent a shot on goal that was saved by Sam Collins. Following Simic's shot, Rodrigo Alves put a shot high of goal. A couple of minutes later, David Marshall had a shot on goal that was saved by Collins.
 
William Woods scored the first goal of the contest when Jordan Henderson found Simic, who beat Collins putting the Owls ahead, 1-0, with 20:50 left in the half.
 
Central Baptist had a shot on goal by Joe Adkins, which Conor Cable recorded the save keeping the Owls ahead, 1-0. Simic added one more shot on goal for the Owls in the first half, but Collins recorded the save and the Owls led 1-0 at halftime.
 
WWU extended its lead in the second half of the contest. With 33:31 left in the contest, Darren Wilson took a free kick and found Simic, in front of the goal, who headed the shot home, for his second goal of the game. This goal put the Owls ahead, 2-0.
 
The Owls kept the pressure on the Mustangs, who were playing a man down after a red card. Wilson and Anthony Moscatello had shots on goal that Collins saved, keeping the game 2-0 in favor of the Owls.
 
With just under 30 minutes to go in the contest, Simic assisted on a  goal of the contest when he sent a ball into the box and Wilson who put the ball past Collins growing the Owls lead to 3-0.
 
The Mustangs had one more shot on goal in the contest but Cable made the save of Nelson Donynath shot. WWU came away with a 3-0 victory over Central Baptist.
