Volleyball Stretches Win Streak to 12 With Sweep of WBC

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The William Woods University volleyball team defeated Williams Baptist College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-15) to win its 12th straight win.
 
Tory Wiley led the Owls with 10 kills on the match. Brittney Engelbrecht dished out a game high 30 assists, while Jessica Jensen led the Owls with 24 digs in the match. WWU hit .191 in the match and Williams Baptist hit. -0.125 in the match.
 
The Owls return to action tomorrow, Friday, September 29th when they travel to Henderson, Tennessee to face Freed-Hardeman University. Match starts at 7 p.m.
 
Game Flow
The Owls and the Eagles would battle back and forth for the lead until finally the Owls would get a hefty lead of three, 11-8. The Owls would add another run after a kill by Kate Doerhoff and a service ace by Jessica Jensen growing the lead to 17-10. The Eagles would score three more points before the Owls ran away with a service run by Kayton Coffee. Brittney Engelbrecht, Tory Wiley, and Abby Ferguson added kills at the end to finish off the first set, 25-13.

The second set would start off much like the first, but the Eagles would be the first to run away with the lead of four points, 7-3. The Owls would chip away at the lead and a service run by Kameryn Bellinger would come just at the right time. Engelbrecht would add two kills during this run and took the lead, 10-8. Kira Krebill then added multiple kills to her bunch extending the Owls lead to 19-10. The Owls did not slow down as they continued to be a threat offensively, adding kills by Wiley, Ferguson, and Rivera, ending the set second set, 25-16.

The Owls carried their intensity into the third set by scoring the first six of seven points, 6-1. The Owls continued to add on to their lead as they found themselves with a ten-point lead, 16-6. Jaclyn Zahn added a service ace and Krebill added a kill to make the set score 19-6. With the gears at full speed, the Owls continued to pull away adding kills by Sydney Bullock and Megan Rogers, closing out the third set with a win, 25-15.
