Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Defeats WBU, 10-0; Earn Ninth Win of Season

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team captured ninth win of the season Tuesday night as they defeated Williams Baptist University, 10-0. WWU recorded seven goals in the first half and held the Eagles to only one shot in the contest.
 
Aurora Henriksen led the way for the Owls tailing in three goals on the night. Rachel Humble followed with two of her own goals in the contest.
 
William Woods returns to action Saturday afternoon for Senior Day as they face Park. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Firley Field.
 
Game Flow
Within the first five minutes of the half, William Woods got out to an early 2-0 lead. Abby Prather-Turner scored WWU's first goal on a free kick that found the net. Their next goal came in less than a minute when Shelby Wiebe found Henriksen for her first goal of the night.
 
After two quick goals, Claire Stark looked to increase the Owls lead but her shot attempts would hit off the crossbar and keep WWU's lead at two.  Shortly after Starks attempt, Shelby Scanlan looked to score for the Owls but would be denied by Eagles goalkeeper Jaharia Bonilla.
 
Finally, after numerous attempts at the goal, Stark was able to find room a score the third goal for the Owls giving them a 3-0 lead. Exactly 1-minute later, WWU's lead increased to 4-0. The Owls attempted a corner kick and an Eagles defender tried to knock the ball down, however, the ball found its way to the back of the net for a goal for the Owls.
 
With 27:51 remaining in the half, Abby Prather-Turner found Wiebe on a breakaway for the fifth goal of the half.
 
At the midway mark, Henriksen broke out for her second goal of the night and pushed the William Woods lead to 6-0. Henriksen would score her third goal on an assist from Stark and give the Owls a 7-0 advantage. Williams Baptist would not attempt any shot and WWU would take a 7-0 lead into halftime.  
 
Ahead by seven, William Woods kept the attack. With 10-minutes off the game clock Rosemary Lenz was able to find Humble for the first goal of the second half and push the lead to 8-0. Humble would find the goal again three minutes later and give WWU a 9-0 lead.
 
After going shot-less in the first half, Maria Lopes attempted a shot that missed wide of the goal.
 
In the final minute of regulation, Shelby Scanlan broke free and scored the final goal for the Owls and would put WWU ahead 10-0. William Woods went on to win the match 10-0 and gave them their 7th AMC win and ninth win of the season.
