FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team returns to action Saturday morning as they face the Pirates of Park University. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Firely Field.

The Owls will be honoring seniors Rebecca Sturgess, Shelby Scanlan, Kaley Beckstead, Leah Bonugli, Claire Stark, Shelby Wiebe and Lexi Rosa before the game as it is Senior Day for WWU.
 
About Park
The Pirates (9-3, 8-2 AMC), enter the contest coming off a 4-1 loss to Columbia. Before the loss to the Cougars, they were on a seven game winning streak.
 
So far this season, the Pirates have had 11 players record a goal. Lenvix Ochieng leads all scorers with 19 goals on the season. Park has tallied n 50 goals on the season and have only allowed their opponents 14. They have also recorded 152 shots on goal and have held their opponents to 48. 
 
The Pirates currently hold eight top 25 national rankings. They rank 6th overall in goals per game (4), 9th overall in shots on goal per game (12.7), 10th overall in shots per game (23), 13th overall in assist per game (3), 17th overall in total goals (50), 18th overall in shutouts per game (.6), 23rd overall in total shutouts (7) and 24th overall in total assist (32).
 
Ochieng and Serena Ortiz are the only Park players with national rankings. Ochieng currently holds eight rankings of her own. She ranks 3rd overall in game winning goals per game (.5), 6th overall in total game winning goals (6), 7th overall in goals per game (1.5), 9th overall in points per game (3.3), 10th overall in total goals (9), 13th overall in total points (40), 15th overall in shots per game (6) and 15th overall in shouts on goal per game (3). Ortiz is currently ranked 33rd overall in the nation in assists per game (.6) and 34th overall in total assists (7).
 
Last time against the Pirates
WWU faced Park in their final regular season game on October 25th. The match ended in 2-2 double overtime draw. Aurora Henriksen scored both goals for the Owls. The two teams matched up again later that season in the 2017 AMC Conference Tournament on November 6th. William Woods advanced on penalty kicks winning 7-6.
 
All-time Against Park
The first meeting of these two teams happened on October 7, 1989 when the Pirates defeated the Owls 1-0.  Since then, they have matched up against each other 36 times. Park currently holds a 25-9-2 series lead.
 
About William Woods
WWU (9-5-1, 7-1-1 AMC) enter the contest looking for their 10th win of the season. They are coming off a 10-0 shutout over Williams Baptist. Aurora Henriksen led the Owls with three goals in the contest.
 
So far this season the Owls have scored 51 goals and have held their opponents to only 19. They have attempted 172 shots on goal and have only allowed opponents 75.
 
Shelby Scanlan, who has been a previous AMC Player of the Week selection, leads all Owls goal scorers with 15 on the season.  On September 22nd, she recorded a school record 5 goals in their win against St. Louis Pharmacy.
 
William Woods currently holds four top 25 national rankings. They rank 11th overall in shots per game (24), 14th overall in total goals (51), 23rd overall in goals per game (3) and 23rd overall in shots on goal per game (11).
 
Scanlan, Abby Prather-Turner and McKenzie Gourley each hold national rankings. Scanlan currently ranks 20th overall in total goals (15), 23rd overall in total points (33), 28th overall in goals per game (1) and 48th overall in shots on goal per game (2.). Prather-Turner currently holds the 44th spot overall in total game winning goals recording 3 this season. Gourley currently ranks 49th overall in assists per game with an average of .5.
 
A win over the Pirates will give the Owls their 10th win on the season as well as their 7th home win at Firley Field.

AMC Tournament
The Owls are one of seven teams that have clinched an AMC Postseason Tournament Berth. The top eight teams reached the AMC Quarterfinals, which start at Nov. 2nd. The top four seed host a quarterfinal matchup. Currently, the Owls have 22 points and are four points out of first.
 
What's Next
The Owls will close out the 2018 regular season contest with two straight road games.  On Oct. 23rd, WWU travels to Lindenwood University-Belleville for an AMC match. On Oct. 26th, WWU faces Columbia College in Columbia, Mo. Both games are 4:30 p.m. starts.
