FULTON, Mo. – Playing their fourth of six straight games in front of the hometown fans, the William Woods University volleyball team won its eleventh straight match on Tuesday night. The Owls swept Evangel University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-22) in non-conference action at Anderson Arena.

WWU had a hitting percentage of .243 hitting percentage of the match. The Owl had two players in double-figures in kills led by
Hannah Kuehl with 12.
Tory Wiley followed with 10 kills. WWU had three aces in the match.

The Owls return to action on Friday, Oct. 5th when they host Lindenwood University – Belleville. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Game Flow
Early in the first set, the Owls and Crusaders traded points early and the match saw six ties over the first 14 points. With the Owls trailing 7-6, WWU recorded the sixth tie after an Evangel service error. The service error keyed a six-point run by the Owls that saw kills by
Remie Johnson and
Rayleen Rivera and three attack errors by Evangel. WWU slowly grew the lead to 15-10 but the Crusaders slowly chipped away and trimmed the lead down to 15-13. WWU answered back and scored six straight points, after a
Tory Wiley kill, giving the Owls a 21-13 lead. WWU did not allow Evangel back in the set and took the first set, 25-15.

The Owls came out fast in the second set. With the Owls ahead 4-3, WWU scored four straight taking an 8-3 lead after a
Kayton Coffee ace. Evangel scored the next two on kills by Heather Gahm putting the Owls lead down to 8-5. A few points later, the Owls led 9-6, WWU scored 11 straight points growing its lead to 20-6. During the run, the Owls had kills by Johnson, Kuehl, and Rivera. William Woods did not let the Crusaders back in the set and took set two, 25-10, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

WWU came out and built an early lead in the third set of the match. After kills by
Jaclyn Zahn and Johnson and a Crusaders attack error the Owls lead 10-5. Following two Evangel points, WWU scored the next four points capped by a Kuehl kill putting the Owls ahead by seven, 14-7. The Crusaders slowly chipped away at the lead and after a Kelsey Arnold ace, the Owls lead was down to two, 16-14. The rest of the set would go back and forth until the Owls had a kill by Kuehl and an ace by Rivera putting the Owls ahead by four, 22-18. Evangel again cut the lead down to one, 22-21 and 23-22, before the Owls finished off the match with the final two points taking the third set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
