Men’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Four With Win Over Park

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 2-1 victory over Park University on Saturday afternoon. The Owls honored its four seniors prior to the game.
 
With the win, the Owls unbeaten streak has stretched to 14 matches.
 
William Woods returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd when they travel to Belleville, Ill. to face Lindenwood University – Belleville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
Game Flow
The Owls offense came out clicking in the first five minutes of the game. Billy Nzojyibwami had a shot on goal within the first minute and a half of the contest, but the shot was saved. However, the Pirates goalie could not control the rebound and Tres Caroo came in and scored putting the Owls ahead, 1-0.
 
Darren Wilson kept the Owls offensive pressure on as he had his first shot attempt saved by Logan Galvin.
 
Six minutes after Wilson was denied, the Owls scored its second goal of the match. Jordan Henderson sent a crossing pass into the box and Caroo headed the ball home for the Owls second goal of the game. This put the Owls ahead 2-0.
 
The Owls defense continued to deny the Pirates any looks at the goal and the Pirates did not record a shot in the first half.
 
WWU looked to extend its lead late in the first half. WWU lined up for a free kick and they sent the ball into the box but were called for offsides. WWU led 2-0 at halftime.
 
The Owls saw its lead shrink to one early in the second half. Coming off a corner kick, Anikor Emeke found Joao Moreira for a goal and the Owls lead was down to 2-1 with 42 minutes remaining in the match.
 
Both teams continued to put pressure on the defenses as they both had multiple shot attempts, however, the shots were going wide and high of goal.
 
WWU continued to put pressure on the Pirates defense as Nzojyibwami had another shot saved by the Pirates goalkeeper.
 
After a foul was called on the Pirates, the Owls lined up for the free kick. Darren Wilson took the kick and sent a ball off the crossbar, keeping the Owls lead at 2-1. Neither team would get another opportunity to score again and the Owls came away with a 2-1 victory over the Pirates.
