POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team was defeated Thursday night as they fell 3-2 to College of the Ozarks (C of O) (25-27, 25-15, 25-16, 14-25, 10-15).
Tory Wiley captured her 1,000th career kill in the match.

WWU returns to action Friday night as they host Harris-Stowe State University. First serve is scheduled for 7.p.m. at Anderson Arena. The match against the Hornets is senior day and the Owls will honor its seniors.

Game Flow
William Woods got out to an early 2-0 lead when
Remie Johnson found
Kate Doerhoff for a kill. The Bobcats would quickly respond with a service ace coming from McKenna Miller. Both teams continued trading points until Rielly Dobbs was able to get a kill and put College of the Ozarks up 17-15. The Bobcats continued their push and was able to get ahead 24-23.

With College of the Ozarks one point away from taking the set, WWU's
Rayleen Rivera had something else in mind as she recorded a kill on an assist by Johnson and tying the score at 24. The Bobcats put two quick attacks together and took the first set 27-25.

WWU entered the second match determined. They were able to get out to a 10-5 lead. College of the Ozarks eventually found a spark and was able to put a few points on the board but it would not be enough to slow the Owls down. With the score now 15-9, Johnson was able to find
Hannah Kuehl for a kill and push their lead to 16-9. The Bobcats were able to get within eight of the Owls, but Allie Gueck would find Johnson and WWU would win the second set 25-15.

With the match now tied 1-1, both teams needed a way to gain an advantage. Both WWU and College of the Ozarks went point for point as neither team was able to get a lead. Finally, a Rivera kill sparked a 12-2 run and put William Woods ahead 21-12. C of O would go on to score six more times before falling to the Owls 25-16.

Down a set, College of the Ozarks needed to make something happen quick if they wanted a change to take the match. Going on an early 5-0 run, the Bobcats had momentum in their favor. William Woods was able to get on the board on a Rivera kill but would not be enough as C of O went on another run and stretched their lead to 10-1. The Owls made a little push, but would not get over the hump and College of the Ozarks would win the fourth set 25-14.

WWU entered the final set with full aggression getting out to a fast 4-0 lead. Bobcats Dobbs and Kayli Grant blocked an Owls attack which made the score 5-2 but initiated a 5-0 C of O run. College of the Ozarks was able to get 14-10 lead of WWU. The Owls would make one more attack but it would not stop the Bobcats as Dobbs found Alex Spears for the final kill of the match. College of the Ozarks would win 3-2.
