FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, October 6th as they face conference opponent Central Baptist. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Firley Field.
 
Kickoff time has been changed to 8:30 a.m. to beat the storms that are scheduled to hit the Fulton area in the afternoon.
 
About Central Baptist
Central Baptist (1-6, 1-4 AMC) enters the contest coming off a 5-1 loss to Freed-Hardeman. The Mustangs are currently on a three-game losing streak. Its lone win of the season came on Sept. 15th when they defeated St. Louis Pharmacy, 1-0.
 
The Mustangs currently hold two national rankings. They rank 30th overall in goals allowed per game (3.43) and 42nd overall in saves per game with an average of 7.14 a night. Sara Calzada ranks 30th overall in the nation in saves per game averaging 7.14 a night.
 
On the season, the Mustangs have scored two goals, both by Kady Johnson. They have been outscored 24-2 during the 2018 season. For the season, CBC also has been outshot 133-33. Out of CBC's 33 shots, 19 shots have been on goal.
 
Last Time Against the Mustangs
Last season, the Owls defeated Central Baptist in a 6-0 shutout on September 23rd. Shelby Scanlan and Aurora Henriksen led WWU with two goals each. Lexi Rosa and Claire Stark followed with one goal each. WWU outshot the Mustangs 38-0 with 25 shots being on goal, they also had 12 corner kicks in the contest.
 
All-time vs. Central Baptist
The first time WWU faced Central Baptist was on September 6, 2013. The Owls won the match 2-0. The Owls outshot the Mustangs 29-7 and 17-1 shots on goal. Since then, WWU has won every match up and holds a 4-0 series lead. 
 
About WWU
William Woods (6-5-1, 4-1-1 AMC) looks for their fifth straight win. Last time out, they defeated Stephens College 6-0.  Shelby Wiebe led the way for the Owls with two goals on the night.  WWU outshot the Stars 47-2 and 25-0 shots on goal.
 
The Owls currently hold six national rankings. They rank 19th overall in shots per game (22.5), 25th overall in total goals (34), 36th overall in shots on goal per game (10.5), 40th overall in total assist (21), 42nd overall in total shutouts (4) and 46th overall in goals per game (2.8).
 
Shelby Scanlan and McKenzie Gourley both hold two national rankings.  Scanlan currently ranks 15th overall in the nation in total goals (12) and 21st overall in total points (26). Gourley ranks 23rd overall in assist per game averaging .67 and 30th 25th overall in total assist (6). WWU has had 14 players attempt shots so for this season. They have also had nine players score goals this season.
 
Four Game Winning Streak
The Owls are currently on a four-game winning streak. During this winning streak, the Owls have outscored its opponents 25-4. Scanlan leads the Owls with eight goals during the streak. WWU has seen eight different Owls score. During the winning streak, the Owls have outshot opponents, 146-34.

WWU returns to action on Saturday, October 13th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to face Harris-Stowe State University. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
