FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's soccer team won its eighth match of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Central Baptist College.
The Owls outshot the Mustangs, 16-4, in the contest. WWU had three different Owls score a goal in the contest. WWU had eight more shots on goal than the Mustangs in the contest.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, October 13th when they travel to St. Louis, Mo. to face Harris-Stowe State University. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
Game Flow
WWU came out looking to score early in the contest, but the Owls were called for two offside calls. WWU got its first shot with 35:20 left in the first half when
David Marshall had a shot that was saved by Andrew Montoya. Nineteen seconds later, the Owls
Billy Nzojyibwami had a shot go wide of goal.
The Owls looked to break onto the scoreboard when
Stefan Simic had a header, but it went off the crossbar. A few minutes later, Simic found
Ethan Roth who scored the first goal of the game.
A minute later, Nzojyibwami scored the Owls second goal putting the Owls ahead, 2-0 with 24 minutes to go before halftime. The Owls did not allow the Mustangs another shot on goal in the first half. WWU's Nzojyibwami had one more scoring chance in the first half but Nzjyibwami's shot was saved. The Owls took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
William Woods came out in the looking to score early but the first two shots of the half was a shot wide by Simic and high by
Jordan Henderson.
The Mustangs had its best scoring chance with just under 30 minutes to go in the contest when Nyasha Dube had a shot that the Owls team made a save on to keep the shutout alive.
WWU added to its lead with 17:26 left in the game when

Darren Wilson for the Owls third goal of the game.
The Owls kept the pressure on and Nzojyibwami looked to add to the lead, but his shot was saved by Montoya. The Owls had two more shots on goal in the contest but could not score. WWU did not let the Mustangs have another shot on goal and the contest and WWU came away with a 3-0 victory.
