BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The William Woods University softball team split its non-conference doubleheader with Oklahoma Wesleyan University. The Eagles took game one, 5-2, before the Owls responded game two, 5-4.

WWUs doubleheader at Bacone College scheduled for Monday, February 26th has been canceled. The Owls return to action on Tuesday, February 27th when they travel to Fayette, Missouri to face Central Methodist University. First-pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Game One
Game Flow
After a scoreless top of the first inning, the Eagles acme back and took the lead in the bottom of the first. With a runner on third, Ashley Stone came up to the plate. She had a 2-2 count on her and on the fifth pitch of the at-bat she hit a two-run home run over the left field fence taking a 2-0 lead.

William Woods looked as if they would come back in the top of the second.
Emily Robinett singled starting the inning off. After a sacrifice bunt moved Robinett to second. She went to third on a
Bri Devellano putting runners on the corners. With two outs, and runners on the corners,
Regan Wilde reached on a Payton Langley error, which scored Robinett putting the Owls down one, 2-1.
Emma Walker singled to left scoring another run and the Owls tied the game at 2-2.

Owls starter,
Bre Logan settled down and retired the first two hitters. After a walk to Langley, she was throwing out trying to steal second. Logan continued to keep the Eagles bats quiet as she did not allow the Eagles to get anything going.

The Owls bats went quiet after the second inning as they did not pick up a hit until the top of the sixth inning. With one out,
Amanda Bouchey singled getting the Owls started. Robinett reached on an error putting two runners on base for the Owls. However, the Owls could not get a run across the board and the game remained tied.

Logan continued to keep the Eagles off balance. After a hit by pitch and a single, Oklahoma Wesleyan had two runners on with one out. Logan struck out Ashleigh Capps and Brooklyn Berido ending the inning.

The Owls looked to get the offense going in the top of the seventh inning.
Lindy Wilson singled and
Dacrie Depping reached on an error.
Emma Walker reached on a bunt single loading the bases. WWU did not get a run across the plate as WWU hit into a fielder's choice and into a double-play ending the inning.

The Eagles answered back in the top of the seventh inning, when Michaela Shouldis singled starting off the inning. With two outs, the Owls walked Ashley Stone, putting two on. Britney Howard came up and took the 2-2 pitch out to left field for a three-run homerun. Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated the Owls, 5-2, in game one.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead against the Owls. In the bottom of the first inning, with a runner on third, Ashley Stone came up and took the 3-2 pitch over the left field wall putting Oklahoma Wesleyan ahead 2-0.

The game remained 2-0 in favor of the Eagles until the top of the third inning. WWU came back and tying the game. With two outs and runners on second and third,
Ari Arnold singled to center field scoring two.

Oklahoma Wesleyan had a runner on second and no outs in the third inning.
Allison Waskow struck out Stone and got Britney Howard to ground out. With two on and two outs, Waskow got Jayci Wang to ground into a fielder's choice ending the inning.

The Owls took the lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Emily Robinett singled, and
Devyn Burton doubled putting two runners on for the Owls.
Alli Massey followed with a single to center scoring run. After an out,
Lindsay Van Tress doubled to center coring two and putting the Owls ahead, 5-2.

Waskow kept the Eagles bats quiet as the Eagles got one hit in the fourth, which was left stranded on base. The Eagles got another runner on in the fifth inning but Waskow got out of the inning.

WWU continued to lead 5-2 until the bottom of the seventh inning. Oklahoma Wesleyan singled to left and stole second and third. Stone drove in the first run of the inning for the Eagles with a single. Howard came up and double putting the tying run on second base. After an RBI ground out, scored another run the Owls lead was down to one, 5-4. Waskow got Wang to pop out to second ending the contest.
