FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team was swept by Freed-Hardeman University in American Midwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Lions won game won, 10-2, and game two, 8-0, over the Owls.

WWU returns to action on action on Tuesday March 20th when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri to face Hannibal-LaGrange University in AMC action. First-pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Game Flow
The Lady Lions scored three in the first inning. Freed-Hardeman scored the first with a sacrifice fly by Kaylyn Graham. Annalise Jarnagin followed with a two-run home run putting the Lady Lions ahead, 3-0.

Freed-Hardeman's starter Makenzie Prince kept the Owls bats quiet over the first three innings of the contest as she only allowed two hits over the first three innings of action.

The Lady Lions scored again in the third inning extending their lead to 7-0. Annaka Baxter came up and singled home two. FHU took advantage of the Owls errors and slowly extended the lead to 7-0. Â

The Owls chipped away at the Lady Lions lead when they scored two in the bottom of the fourth. With one on and one out,
Amanda Bouchey took an 1-0 pitch over the left field fence for a home run taking the Lady Lions lead down to 7-2.

Freed-Hardeman's offense continued to click in the fifth inning. Abbi Gooch singled down the left field line scoring the first run of the inning for the Lady Lions. Caitlyn Carter came up and had a bunt single, which loaded the bases. Emily Bombard followed with a sac fly scoring another. FHU added one more run and lead 10-2 going to the bottom of the fifth.

WWU tried to get the offense going but the Owls went down in order and dropped game one, 10-2.

Freed-Hardeman came out and a Carter and Prince singled put two runners on. Jarnagin followed with a double scoring one and moving runners to second and third. WWU did not allow another run to score and trailed one nothing going to the bottom o the first.

The Owls could not get anything going as the first two struck out.
Emily Robinett singled but was left on base.

The Lady Lions came out in the second inning and scored three runs on three hits while taking advantage of one Owls error. In the frame, Emily Bombard had a two run RBI double and Jarnagin had a single for the Lady Lions.

The Owls threatened in the bottom of the third when
Bri Devellano hit a leadoff triple. She advanced to third on a wild pitch, but the Owls could not get her in and she would be left stranded on the bases.

Freed-Hardeman continued to add to hits lead and with two outs in the top of the fourth, the Lady Lions offense came to life. After a walk and a single, Emily Bombard doubled scoring one. Graham followed wit ha two run RBI single putting the Lady Lions ahead, 7-0.

The Owls were not able to get anything going in the fourth inning and the Lady lions added one more run in the fifth taking an 8-0 lead. WWU needed one run to kept the game alive, however, the Owls Devellano reached on a walk and was left stranded and the Owls were defeated 8-0 in game two.
