HANNIBAL, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team swept American Midwest Conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange University, on Tuesday afternoon. The Owls took game one, 4-0, before winning game two, 18-6.

With the sweep, the Owls improve to 12-12 on the season and 5-3 in the AMC.
Alli Massey led the Owls with five hits over the two-game sweep. Massey and
Ari Arnold led the Owls with five RBIs each in the games. Ten different Owls had at least one hit and an RBI in the contests.
Allison Waskow and
Madison Ausfahl picked up wins for the Owls.

The Owls return to action on Friday, March 23rd when they host St. Louis College of Pharmacy. First-pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Alli Massey sparked the Owls offense in the top of the second when she reached on a walk and was later advanced to second by
Bri Devellano. After a Trojan error,
Lindy Wilson reached base and, on the play, Massey crossed home plate, the Owls ahead 1-0.

The Owls came back in the top of the third when
Emily Robinett,
Ari Arnold, and
Amanda Bouchey hit back to back to back singles.
Lindsay Van Tress also singled to score Arnold growing the Owls lead to 2-0. After another Trojan error, Bouchey would also score extending the Owls lead to 3-0.

WWU was able to carry their offense streak into the top of the fourth inning when
Dacrie Depping smacked a triple and Arnold came up with two outs to score Depping, growing the leada to 4-0.

The Owls threatened again in the top of the fifth when Massey hit a leadoff double but was later put out by Trojan defense when they executed a double play, clearing the threat off the base paths.

The Owls defense and stellar performance by Waskow kept the Trojans at bay. Waskow only allowed the Trojans six hits in the game and did not allow Hannibal-LaGrange a hit in three innings of play. Waskow picked up the win for the Owls and WWU won 4-0.

The Trojans scored four runs right out the gate in the bottom of the first as they jumped on Owls starter
Madison Ausfahl. The Trojans scored four runs on three this and took advantage of one Owl error. In the frame, Jennifer Harness, and Allison Matlock picked up RBI hits.

The Owls answered back in the top of the second scoring eight runs, 8-4. After a Trojan error, Bouchey reached base and loaded the bases along with
Lindsay Van Tress and
Bri Devellano who reached on a walk. The Owls scored their eight runs on two outs after
Lindy Wilson also reached on a walk and scored Bouchey.
Ari Arnold hit a triple which cleared the bases and tied the game, 4-4.

Emily Robinett both reached on a walk and Massey hit them in with a double putting the Owls ahead, 7-4.
Amanda Bouchey also hit a single and scored Massey growing the WWU lead to, 8-4.

HLGU pushed one run across the plate in the bottom of the third. With Kendra Jacob on third base, Allison Matlock singled her home, trimming the Owls lead down to three, 8-5.

The Owls continued their hit parade in the top of the fourth when they scored another seven runs. Massey sparked the offense once again and would later score on a hit by Bouchey putting the Owls ahead, 9-4. A single by
Emma Walker scored Van Tress.
Lindy Wilson then scored Bouchey, and a single by Depping scored another growing the lead to 12-4. Massey came up through the lineup again and would score two with a double putting the Owls ahead by ten, 15-5.

The Trojans scored one in the bottom of the fourth to try to chip away at the Owls lead. In the fourth, Jenna Duckworth doubled home McKenzie Marshall.

The top of the fifth would bring about another three runs from the Owls, as Arnold drew a bases loaded walk scoring one for the Owls.
Regan Wilde came up to pinch hit and hit a double scoring two putting WWU ahead 18-6.

The Trojans needed to score five to keep the game alive and they had a threat going in the bottom of the fifth. Reagan Dunn and Danielle Wilcoxson put two on for the Trojans with no out. After a pop out, Samantha Sielinski singled loading the bases. The Owls needed the game when Marshall hit into a double-play. WWU came away with an 18-6 victory.
