LA MIRADA, Calif. – The William Woods University softball team dropped both of its contest to Biola University on Tuesday night. The Owls dropped game one, 3-0, and were defeated 6-4, in game two of the doubleheader.

WWU returns to action on Thursday, March 8th when they play No. 17 Vanguard University. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. CT.

The Owls faced the Eagles of Biola and the Eagles were the first to score in the bottom of the first. With a runner on first and second, Areana Ramos doubled to left scoring one and putting the Eagles ahead, 1-0. That would be all the Owls would let them score as
Bre Logan got Missy Poti to line out to end the inning and leave three on base.

The Owls threatened in the top of the fourth when
Devyn Burton,
Lindy Wilson and
Madison Ausfahl all singled, loading the bases. WWU had the bases loaded with one out, but the next two hitters were retired, and the Owls continued to trail 1-0.

The Eagles scored again in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs in the inning, Selina Sherlin singled to left center scoring one and building the Eagles lead to 2-0.

The Owls left two on base in the top of the fifth when
Celeste Sermeno reached on an error and
Amanda Bouchey was hit by pitch putting Owls on first and second. The Owls were unfortunately unable to produce a run and left the fifth inning without a run.

In the bottom of the fifth the Eagles pushed one more run across. With two runners on, Jay Perez singled home a run extending the lead to 3-0 over the Owls.

The Owls were not able to push a run across and ultimately fell in the first game, 3-0.

The Owls and the Eagles went scoreless in the first inning and then the Eagles were able to score two in the bottom of the second. Kylie Velasco and Perez came away with RBIs in the inning for the Eagles. Â

The Owls answered in the top of the third when
Emma Walker led off with a triple and
Dacrie Depping singled, scoring Walker putting the Owls down 2-1.
Emily Robinett and
Amanda Bouchey both reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Sermeno and Burton recorded back to back singles loading the bases. Ausfahl followed with a single of her one scoring one and tying the game at 2-2. WWU would lead the bases loaded in the frame.

Neither team scored until the top of the fifth inning when the Owls took the lead by scoring one, when Bouchey reached on a walk and
Regan Wilde pinch ran for Bouchey. Wilde later scored off a single by Ausfahl, putting the Owls ahead 3-2.

The Eagles answered back in the bottom of the fifth when Perez led off with a triple and was brought to the plate by Balderston. 3-3. Balderston later scored off a throwing error by the Owls, and Biola took a 4-3 lead.

WWU scored in their next outing when Walker reached on a walk and later was pushed across the plate by a single by Sermeno tying the game at 4-4.

The Eagles scored two more in the bottom of the sixth after a walk and two hit by pitch to load the bases. After a few mishaps by the Owls, the Eagles found themselves ahead 6-4 heading to the top of the seventh inning.

The first two Owls were retired before
Lindsay Van Tress and Walker drew back to back walks. However, the next Owl batter was retired and WWU was defeated 6-4 in game two.
