TOPEKA, Kan. – The William Woods University women's tennis team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, had its seven-match winning streak snapped when Washburn University defeated the Owls, 6-3, in non-conference action.

Washburn came out and took all three points in doubles matches. Washburn took No. 1 doubles, 8-2, No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
The Owls answered back and tied the match at 3-3 as
Felicia Cesar won No. 4 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3.
Chelsea Steward pulled off another three set victory, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5, in No. 5 singles.
Julia Mulder was the last point the Owls got with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in No. 6 singles.
WWU could not collect a point in No. 1 singles as
Zlata Shuraeva was defeated 6-4, 6-2
Julia Perez Wienese lost 6-0, 6-1 and
Karyna Sagalai dropped set three, 6-4, 6-4.
WWU returns to the courts on Saturday, April 14th when they host Missouri Valley College at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex. Match starts at 11 a.m.
