FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's tennis team won its tenth match of the season on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Vikings of Missouri Valley College, 8-1.
 
The Owls improve to 10-4 on the season after defeating the Vikings. Full results can be seen below.
 
The Owls wasted little time jumping out to a lead against the visiting Vikings. Paige Smith and Karyna Sagalai won the first point for the Owls in No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 win. Abigail Lemberger and Julia Mulder followed with an 8-2 win in No. 2 doubles. Zlata Shuraeva and Chelsea Steward followed with a win 9-8 (2) in No. 1 doubles giving the Owls all three double points.
 
The Owls continued to roll in singles action. Julia Mulder took her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 6 doubles. Chelsea Steward added another point for the Owls with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 5 singles.
 
Winning in No. 4 singles for the Owls was Felicia Cesar. Cesar won 6-2, 6-2 over Reevaw Lewis. Julia Perez Wienese defeated Lauryn Daxon, 6-2, 7-6 (5) in No. 3 singles. Zlata got the last point for the Owls in No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
 
WWU only match they dropped was No. 1 singles where Karyna Sagalai dropped the match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (6).
 
The Owls return to action on Tuesday, April 17th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to play Washington University in St. Louis. Match starts at 4:30 against the Bears.
