Men’s Tennis Downs Lindenwood-Belleville, 6-3

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University men's tennis team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, won its ninth match of the season as they defeated Lindenwood University – Belleville, 6-3, on Wednesday evening at the Suzanne Neal Tennis Complex.
 
Prior to the match, the Owls honored its three seniors, Christian Barbieri, Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino and Elias Fernandez. Full results can be listed below.

"We were able to send our seniors out with a win which was great!" remarked head coach Justin Stuckey.
 
The Owls fell behind early as they dropped two of the three doubles matches. WWU's lone win in doubles came in No. 3 doubles where Oscar Barreiro and Christian Barbieri won 8-5.
 
The momentum switched when singles action started. WWU won five of the six singles action on the day. In No. 1 singles Javier Callejo defeated Juan Pablo Herrera, 6-3, 6-3. Barbieri won his second match of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 2 singles.
 
Christopher Vleeming Ortiz won 6-2, 6-1, in No. 3 singles giving the Owls a 4-2 lead. Oscar Barreiro won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles getting the Owls to its fifth point. No. 5 singles belonged to Jesus Amezcua 6-4, 6-2.
 
The lone singles match the Owls lost was No. 6 singles.
 
The Owls return to action on Friday, April 20th when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to face Missouri Baptist University at 11 a.m. and St. Louis College of Pharmacy at 3 p.m.
