Women’s Soccer Shutout by Culver-Stockton

CANTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team was shutout on Wednesday night in non-conference action by Culver-Stockton College. The Wildcats defeated the Owls, 4-0.
 
Culver-Stockton outshot the Owls 17-1 in the contest.
 
WWU returns to action on Saturday, August 25th when they play the University of Jamestown in Fayette, Missouri. The game will be played at Central Methodist University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
 
Game Flow
The Wildcats offense came out and struck early in the contest. After a shot went wide, Culver-Stockton answered on its second shot of the game. Montse Caparros and Makkel Parrott assisted on Janelle Pierre's goal putting the Wildcats ahead, 1-0. Three minutes later, Emma McKinstry scored her first goal of the season and took a 2-0 lead.
 
Shelby Scanlan had the Owls only shot in the first half. Scanlan fired a shot that went wide of goal eight minutes and 44 seconds into the half.
 
Culver-Stockton scored its third goal of the first half 15 minutes prior to halftime. Jody Ellis beat the Owls keeper increasing the lead to 3-0. The Wildcats had one more shot on goal when Pierre fired on goal, but Taylor Hoeltke recorded the save. WWU trailed 3-0 heading to halftime.
 
The Wildcats offense continued to click early in the second half, as Francesca Frasca and Montse Caparros had shots on goal but Hoeltke made the saves on both the shots. Less than two minutes later, Sydnie Martin had a shot that Hoeltke saved.
 
The Owls could not get anything going in the second half as they did not attempt a shot in the second half of the contest.
 
The Wildcats scored its fourth and final goal of the game when St. Pierre scored on an assist by Jody Ellis. Culver-Stockton defeated the Owls, 4-0.
