FAYETTE, Mo. – In the first-ever meeting between William Woods University women's soccer and the University of Jamestown, saw the Jimmies come out on top by a score of 1-0 on Saturday evening at Central Methodist University.
Jamestown outshot the Owls 18-3 in the contest and 7-0 on shots on goal. The Owls saw
Alexis Willingham,
Aurora Henriksen and
Abby Prather-Turner with shots in the game.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, September 1st when they host Sterling College in non-conference action at Firley Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Game Flow
Playing their second game in two days, the Jimmies offense came out strong in the contest. In the first ten minutes, Jamestown had two corner kicks and two shots that were missed wide. Jamestown continued to get opportunities to score in the first half but could not put a shot on goal as they continued to miss wide or high of the goal.

Aurora Henriksen took a pass about 15 yards away from the goal and took a shot, however, the shot was missed wide.
After Henriksen's shot, the Jimmies offense took over for the rest of the half. Amanda George and Shelby Webb put shots on goal, but
Taylor Hoeltke recorded the saves. After 45 minutes of play in the first half, the came would remain scoreless.
The Jimmies offense continued to keep the offensive attack going in the second half. Midway through the second half, the Jimmies finally struck. Nicole Morrison found Lateasha Hughes who was at the top of the box and Hughes found the back of the net, putting the Jimmies ahead, 1-0.
About seven minutes later, the Owls had its best chance to score in the contest.
Alexis Willingham was about 30 yards out from goal had a shot that looked as if it would drop over the goalkeepers' head, however, Willingham's shot hit the crossbar and kept the Owls off the scoreboard.
Jamestown had one more good scoring chance late in the second half when Allison Best had a shot on goal that an Owls defender came out of nowhere and kicked the ball away and kept it out of the back of the net.
WWU had one more shot that went wide of goal and the Jimmies defeated the Owls, 1-0, on Saturday evening.
