Volleyball Wins Eighth Straight; Sweep Williams Baptist

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team won its eighth straight contest with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-10) victory over Williams Baptist University on Thursday evening.
 
The Owls had nine different players collect a kill in the match. Leading the Owls was Hannah Kuehl with eight kills. WWU hit .370 as a team for the match.
 
The Owls return to action on Friday, Sept. 28th when they host the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
 
Game Flow
The Owls wasted little time taking advantage of the first set and after kills by Jaclyn Zahn and Remie Johnson, the Owls led 5-2. Kayton Coffee followed with an ace making it 6-2. The Eagles came back and cut the lead to one, 7-6 before the Owls scored seven points taking a 14-6 lead. William Woods stretched the lead to 22-11 after a Zahn kill. WWU did not let the Eagles back into the match and took the first set 25-12 after an Eagles attack error.
 
William Woods raced out to a quick 5-1 lead in the second set after an Eagles error. WWU slowly continued to extend its lead and leading 8-4, WWU rallied off eight straight points. The Owls did not let the Eagles back into the set and after a Kuehl kill, WWU led 20-9. WWU only allowed Williams Baptist one more point in the set and a kill by Nise Salima gave the Owls the set, 25-10.
 
Like the second set, the Owls raced out to a 6-1 lead after two kills by Kate Doerhoff, an ace by Tori Rosemann and a kill by Zahn. With the Owls ahead 10-5, WWU rallied off nine straight points that was capped by a Brooke Reed kill. The Owls did not let the Eagles back into the match and a Doerhoff kill gave the Owls the third set, 25-10 and the sweep.
