FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's soccer team won their sixth straight game with Wednesday's 1-0 shutout over Hannibal-LaGrange. The win brings the Owls to 8-7 on the season with a 7-2 conference mark.
Despite the close score, the Owls held possession for more than 99 percent of Wednesday's game. The team out shot HLG 50-1.
The Owls took 21 shots in the first half with eight landing on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
Nine minutes into the second half,
McKenzie Gourley pushed the ball into the low corner off
Samantha Donaldson's cross to take a 1-0 lead.
The Owls took 29 shots total in the second 45 minutes but were unable to connect with the back of the net again.
Michyla Handley played in goal for 66 minutes.
Arianna Meikel replaced her in the net for the final 24 minutes.
Gourley and
Rosemary Lenz each took three shots on goal.
The Owls next host Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday, Oct, 26. First touch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
