Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – William Woods University Women's Soccer captures their eight straight win Tuesday night as they defeated St. Louis Pharmacy 7-0.
McKenzie Gourley scored a team high 5 goals in the competition.
Madysen Hahn also scored a goal in the contest.
Game Flow
William Woods started off the match in attack mode. 3-minutes into the first half
Alexis Willingham attempted a shot on goal but would be denied by Eutectics goalkeeper Ashton Lindsley.
The game would remain scoreless up until the midway point when St. Louis Pharmacy made a mistake and scored on their own goal, giving WWU a 1-0 lead.
Minutes later the Owls attempted to increase their lead when a
Abbie Gilblair shot missed high of the goal. Immediately following the shot attempt was Gourley whose shot was saved by Lindsley.
After numerous attempts at the goal, William Woods was finally able to put their second point on the board when
Abby Wilson found Gourley for her first goal of the game which pushed their lead to 2-0.
St. Louis Pharmacy continued to struggle in half and could not get passed the WWU defense.
With 12-minutes remaining in the period,
Aurora Henriksen was able to find Gourley for her second goal of the game and give the Owls a 3-0 lead over Pharmacy. 5-minutes later, Henriksen connected with Gourley once again giving them a 4-goal gap over the Eutectics.
William Woods attempted one final shot in the half, but it would miss wide of the goal. They walked into halftime with a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Much like the opening minutes in the first half, the Owls opened the second with even more aggression. 2-minutes in, Henriksen recorded her third assist when she found Hahn for a goal giving them an early 5-0 advantage.
After watching the Owls rack up the goals, St. Louis Pharmacy finally decided to get in on the action. At the 35-minute mark, Abbie Foote attempted to give the Eutectics their first goal of the game but her shot hit the post and they remained scoreless.
William Woods attempted five more shots before
Samantha Donaldson found Gourley for their 6
th goal of the game which put them ahead 6-0. Seconds later Gourley found the goal once again and put WWU up 7-0.
The Eutectics continued to struggle and would not attempt another shot in the contest.
WWU went on to win their eight game straight 7-0.
