WWU Honors Two Seniors in Tomorrows Match Against Lyon

FULTON, Mo. – William Woods University Women's Soccer will honor seniors Alexis Willingham and Tayler LePage during their final regular season contest against Lyon College. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Firley Filed.
 
About Lyon
The Scots enter the contest 7-9 overall and 4-7 in the American Midwest Conference. They are currently on a two-game losing streak, falling to Stephens 1-0 on Oct. 22 and Park 7-0 on Oct. 27. Prior to the back-to-back loses, they beat St. Louis Pharmacy 1-0 on Oct. 14 and Hannibal-LaGrange 4-1 on Oct. 19.

Tabetha Troxler is leading the way for Lyon with 6 goals on the season. She has also recorded 37 shots with 19 shots being on goal. She scored a season-high two goals twice this season; the first time against Bacone (Okla.) and again against Central Baptist.

Sarah Evans, Hailey Gonzales and Kimberly Fretwell follow behind with five goals each on the season.

Cassidy Powell has also played well for the Scots. In 13 games, she has tallied 23 saves and leads Lyon with a 4-3 record.

So far this season, they have maintained one national ranking. They rank 41st overall in shots on goal per game (10).

Gonzales is the only Scot who holds a national ranking; she ranks 50th overall in shots per game (4.3).

This will be the final game for Lyon. They finished the season one spot out of making the AMC Conference Tournament.
 
About William Woods
William Woods enters the contest on an eight-game winning streak. Their last loss came on Sept. 25 when they fell 4-0 to RV Columbia. Since then, they have defeated Stephens, Freed-Hardeman, Park, Williams Baptist, Hannibal-LaGrange, Harris-Stowe and St. Louis Pharmacy. They are currently 10-7 overall and sit in third place in the AMC with 9-2 conference record.

The last time out the Owls defeated St. Louis Pharmacy 7-0. McKenzie Gourley led WWU with fifive goals in the contest. Madysen Hahn also scored in the match.

As a team, WWU holds two national rankings. They rank 37th overall in shots per game (19) and 44th overall in total goals (44).

Gourley has had an amazing season so far. She holds eight national rankings in which four are within the Top 25. She ranks eighth overall in goals per game (1.5), ninth overall in total goals (22), 12th overall in points per game (3) and 14th overall in total points (45).

Aurora Henriksen is the only other Owls with a ranking. She ranks 49th overall in assists per game (.5).
 
History Between William Woods and Lyon
The first match between these two took place on October 3, 2007 when the Scots won 1-0. Since then, they have met 13 other times in which Lyon holds a 6-5-1 series lead.

WWU will be looking to tie the series in tomorrow's competition.
