FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team defeated Freed-Hardeman University in the American Midwest Conference Championship Quarterfinals, 3-2. With the win, the four-seeded Owls move to the semifinals hosted by Park University.
The Owls defeated FHU 25-19, 20-25, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12. This is the second time this season the Owls defeated FHU in five; the Owls just defeated FHU on Saturday to clinch the four seed in the AMC.
The Owls will face AMC regular season winner and host No. 5 Park University on Friday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m.

Game Flow
FHU took a 3-0 lead to start the set and maintained possession of it for the first half. They pushed out a 16-11 lead before the Owls called a timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Owls struck an 11-1 rally despite FHU burning their two timeouts. With a 22-17 lead, the Owls run was halted by a FHU kill.
Tori Rosemann served up an ace to bring it to set point, and a FHU service error gave the Owls a 25-19 win.
FHU jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start set two. The Owls struggled to close the gap, but after a block by Zahn and Johnson, followed by back-to-back kills from
Lanie Lowry, the Owls came within two, 16-14. FHU pushed their lead back out following a timeout and went on to win the set 25-20.
With the match tied 1-1, FHU once again took an early lead. The blasted a 13-4 lead to start and went on to take an 18-5 lead. The Owls rallied back to bring the set within six, 22-16, but FHU closed it out to take a 2-1 advantage, 25-17.
For the first time in the match, the Owls began the set with the lead, 3-1. FHU eventually evened the score at 10-10 following two kills, but a kill from
Ally Konarzewski jump started a 4-0 run. FHU evened the score at 19 all and took the lead with a block, forcing the Owls to call a timeout. After two WWU errors, the Owls burned their second timeout. Coming out of the second one, Doerhoff slammed down to kills, and Kuehl added one of her own to even the score at 22-22. Kuehl brought the Owls to set point with a kill, and a FHU attack error ended the set with a 25-23 Owls win, evening the match at 2-2.
The Owls got on the board first in set five, but FHU scored three straight to take the lead, 3-1. The Owls and FHU traded points, but back-to-back kills from Doerhoff put the Owls up 9-7. After the Owls went up 11-8, FHU called their second timeout; Coffee came out with an ace to give the Owls a 12-8 lead. FHU brought the set within two, but Doerhoff and Kuehl blocked a FHU attack to take a 13-10 lead. Kuehl finished out the set and match with two kills, 15-12.
