FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team used a strong first and third quarter to push past NCAA Division III Greenville University Saturday afternoon, 71-58. Heading into conference play, the Owls remain undefeated with a 5-0 record.
Kaycee Gerald posted a double-double for the second consecutive game, her third this season.
The Owls begin conference play on Thursday, Nov. 21, with a home game versus Hannibal-LaGrange University. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. in Anderson Arena.

Game Flow
The Owls jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first three minutes. GU finally got on the board halfway through the quarter and scored the next seven to cut the game to four, 11-7. The Owls answered with seven points of their own to go back up by 11 with 2:15 on the clock, 18-7. GU scored two, but with 1:03 on the clock,
Kaycee Gerald headed to the line and made both, putting the Owls up by 11 heading into the second quarter, 20-9.
Katie French began the scoring in the second quarter, putting the Owls up by 13 just a minute in. GU hit a three, but
Carleigh Jenkins scored the next seven points over a four-minute span to put the Owls up by 17 with 3:37 to play, 29-12. GU broke their silence with two free throws, but
Jazlyn Drake sunk a three to give the Owls an 18-point lead with 1:55 to play, 32-14. GU scored the final five points of the half, sending the teams to the locker room with WWU leading 32-19.
The Owls began the second half with a 7-2 run to take an 18-point lead before the two teams traded buckets. After GU cut the game to 15, the Owls powered a 6-0 run to go up by 21 with 4:24 on the clock, 47-26. Following a GU bucket, the Owls pushed an 8-2 run in the final three minutes to close out the quarter with a 25-point lead. The Owls outscored GU 23-11 in the third to possess a 55-30 lead.
GU outscored the Owls 28-16 in the final quarter, cutting the game back to 13 points. GU cut the game to 17 after a traditional three-point play 3 ½ minutes in, but the Owls answered with a 6-0 run. GU answered back with a 12-2 run, cutting the game to 13 points with 1:57 on the clock, 67-54.
Tori Nesslage sank two free throws to put the Owls back up by 15, but GU hit a long jumper to bring the game back to 13.
Rylie Cox then found herself at the foul line and went 2-for-2. GU scored the final basket of the game with 28 seconds on the clock to end the game with an Owls 71-58 win.
