Game Flow
Hannibal-LaGrange was the first to put points on the board. 45-seconds into the first quarter, Emma Anderson knocked down a nice midrange jump-shot and put the Trojans up 2-0. Their lead would quickly disappear seconds later when Greenlee knocked down her first three-pointer of the game giving the Owls a 3-2 lead.
After a quick William Woods run, HLG regained the lead when Anderson connected for a second time in the paint. The Owls once again responded to the Trojan lead with a three-point basket from Jenkins giving WWU a 9-8 advantage.
With a little under two minutes left in the quarter, Jenkins knocked down a nice basket in the paint and gave WWU their largest lead of the game, 23-15. Her basket sparked a 6-0 run putting them up 29-15 going into the second quarter.
As momentum continued to favor the Owls, Hannibal-LaGrange refuse to go away. Three minutes into the period, Rhiannon Runyon hit a huge three-pointer and cut the deficit to nine, but it would not be enough as the Owls went on another run and extended their lead to 42-27.
In the final seconds of the first half,
Ashleigh Frampton connected on a nice two-point bucket which gave the Owls a 44-27 halftime lead.
William Woods returned from halftime with the same energy they had in the first two quarters. Two minutes into the third period, Greenlee broke away for a fast break lay-in, pushing the WWU lead to 27.
Hannibal was held to two points in the first five minutes of the period.
With both ends working for the Owls, their lead continued to grow. At the 4:01 mark,
Caitlin Hicks hit a deep three-pointer and pushed William Woods ahead 68-29.
The Trojans ended the third period scoring seven straight points, cutting the WWU lead to 68-35.
Going into the fourth period William Woods just needed to maintain their large lead. They did just that in the first two minutes of the quarter with back-to-back baskets from Gerald.
HLG put up a few more points before a pair of
Tori Nesslage and Jenkins three-pointers put a stamp on the game.
The Owls went on to win their sixth straight game over Hannibal, 85-48.
