Women’s Soccer Defeats Lyon on Senior Day

FULTON, Mo. ­– The William Woods University women's soccer team defeated Lyon 1-0 in Saturday's Senior Day season-finale. The Owls end the regular season on a nine-game winning streak. They are 11-7 on the season and finish in second place with a 10-2 conference mark.

The Owls continue their season in the Quarterfinals round of the 2019 American Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship. They host seven-seed Harris-Stowe State University on Friday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m.
 
The Owls struck just 16 seconds into the match as senior Tayler LePage punched the ball into the net while trying to cross. 
 
The Owls took 14 more shots with nine landing on goal, but the Owls were unable to find the back of the net again in the first half. 
 
The Owls' defense held Lyon to just two shots.
 
The Owls fired off eight shots on goal in the second half but were unsuccessful in getting past the Lyon keeper.
 
LePage and McKenzie Gourley each took six shots on goal.
 
Michyla Handley grabbed two saves in her 90 minutes between the posts.
