Owls Continue in Their Winning Ways

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team remains undefeated in the 2019-20 season with Saturday's dominating 79-58 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. This is the second consecutive game the Owls have won by 20 or more. The team improves to 7-0 with a 2-0 conference mark.
 
The Owls take a week off for the holiday before finishing their home stretch with a 5:30 p.m. game versus Harris-Stowe State University on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
 
By The Numbers
20 – Kaycee Gerald scored 20 in the win, making it her seventh double-digit game of the season.
18 – Peyton Greenlee added 18 points to the win, going 6-for-14 from the field.
8 – Ashleigh Frampton pulled down a floor-high eight rebounds.
7 – Gerald recorded seven steals.
4 – Greenlee blocked four shots, and Gerald dished in a team-high four assists.
 
Game Flow
STLCOP got on the board first with a fast break layup following a defensive rebound. The Owls took a 3-2 lead just 20 seconds later with a three from Ashleigh Frampton. The Owls scored three more to take a 6-2 lead, but STLCOP scored five within 30 seconds to take a one-point lead with 5:34 on the clock, 7-6.
 
Rylie Cox hit a three to put the Owls up by two and start a 6-0 run to put the Owls up by five with 3:52 to play, 12-7.
 
STLCOP brought the game within three with two minutes to play, but Jazlyn Drake hit a three and Tori Nesslage went 2-for-2 from the foul line to send the game into the second quarter with the Owls leading, 19-11.
 
STLCOP brought the game within five just over halfway through the second quarter, holding the Owls to just one point.
 
A steal and fast break layup by Gerald sparked an 8-0 run over a 1:19 span to give the Owls a 13-point lead with 4:14 to play. STLCOP managed to cut the game back to single digits, but two good free throws from Nesslage and Carleigh Jenkins gave the Owls a 10-point lead heading into halftime, 34-24.
 
The Owls powered a 22-13 lead over STLCOP in the third quarter. STLCOP held the Owls to single digits through the first half of the quarter, but the Owls dominated the second part with a 13-4 run to close out the quarter with a 19-point lead, 56-37.
 
A steal from Gerald followed by a fast break layup opened the fourth quarter, giving the Owls a 21-point lead, 58-37. Back-to-back buckets from Ashleigh Frampton started an 8-0 run over a two-minute span to bring the Owls up by 29 with 3:22 to play, 75-46.
 
In the final three minutes, STLCOP outscored the Owls 12-4, ending the game with an Owls' 79-58 win.
