Owls Fall to No. 18 CBC

CONWAY, Ark. – The William Woods University men's basketball team fell to No. 18 Central Baptist College Thursday evening, 72-57. The Owls drop to 7-6 on the season with a 3-3 conference mark.
 
The Owls continue their six-game road stretch on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Lyon College. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
 
By The Numbers
14 – Andrew Nett scored a team-high 14 points.
12 – Makenzie Fessler and Treshawn Gause added 12 points apiece, each making five buckets from the field.
9 – Darius Yohe pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
4 – Gause dished in a team-high four assists.
 
Game Flow
The Owls won the tip and Darius Yohe scored the first points of the game down low.
 
Andrew Nett drained his first three of the game two minutes in to counter CBC's three to take back the lead. 
 
Nett hit another three to give the Owls a three-point lead after CBC tied the game up three minutes in.
 
CBC countered with a 6-0 run to take a three-point lead with 14:02 on the clock, 11-8. 
 
Mike Robinson drained a three to tie the game, but CBC answered with another 6-0 run over the next minute, 17-11.
 
Gause scored two on a fast break layup following Jason Mason's steal and assist to cut the game back to four. CBC scored again, but Ian Hodges checked in the game and immediately scored to cut the game back to four with 10:46 to play in the first.
 
CBC pushed out a double-digit lead for the first time with 5:52 to play.
 
Gause went 2-for-2 from the foul line to bring the Owls back to a single digit deficit with 4:46 on the clock, but CBC held the Owls from scoring for the rest of the first half while putting up 11 to send the game into halftime with the Owls trailing 40-20.
 
The Owls and CBC traded buckets throughout the first five minutes of the second half.
 
With 13:45 to play, Gause scored a long jumper to jump start a 9-0 run to bring the Owls within 15 with 10:58 on the clock. 
 
CBC pushed back out to 24 points by the time three minutes remained on the clock, 69-45.
 
The Owls held CBC from scoring for the next two and a half minutes while pushing another 9-0 run to cut the game back to 15 points, 69-54.
 
CBC broke their silence with a three-pointer with 1:44 on the clock, but Nett drained his fourth three of the game for the final points to end the game with a 72-57 loss.
