COLUMBIA, Mo. – The William Woods University women's basketball team's perfect start to the 2019-20 season came to an end on Thursday evening with a loss to No. 13 Columbia College (Mo.). The 71-54 loss brings the Owls to 8-1 on the season with a 3-1 conference mark.
The Owls next travel to Belleville, Ill. for a road game versus Lindenwood University-Belleville on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.

Game Flow
Gerald scored nine of the Owls' 12 first quarter points, including the first seven of the game.
The Owls got on the board first with Gerald's jumper following
Peyton Greenlee's steal. Just moments later, CC tied it up with their own bucket in the paint. That would be the only time the Owls possessed the lead.
CC went on for a 10-0 run to take an eight-point lead, but Gerald knocked down a three and a two to cut the game to three just over halfway through the first quarter, 10-7.
Tori Nesslage hit a three to bring the game back within five after CC went up by eight. CC hit two three-pointers in the final minute to take a 12-point lead heading into the second quarter, 24-12.
CC pushed out a 17-point lead over the first three minutes of the second quarter.
Rylie Cox finally broke the Owls' silence, but CC hit a three to push out an 18-point lead. Greenlee brought the Owls within 14 with a short jumper just under halfway through the quarter.
CC once again took an 18-point lead, but Gerald scored the final four points of the half to cut the game back to 14 heading into the locker room, 38-24.
CC pushed a 20-point lead halfway through the third quarter. Frampton going 3-for-4 from the foul line followed by a long jumper from Greenlee brought the Owls back within 13 with 1:27 on the clock, 53-40. CC answered back with a two and a three to head into the final quarter with an 18-point difference, 58-40.
Two threes from
Jazlyn Drake and a drive from Gerald brought the Owls within 11 just three minutes into the final quarter. CC slowly pushed the lead back to 15, but Gerald forced a turnover and hit a fast break layup following her steal to bring the Owls within 13 with 4:49 on the clock.
The Owls were held from scoring for the remainder of play though. CC scored their final points with 2:02 on the clock, ending the game with a 71-54 loss.
