NEW ORLEANS, La. – The No. 6 William Woods University women's tennis team fell to No. 3 Xavier University of Louisiana Friday afternoon, 5-0. The loss is the first NAIA loss for the Owls and snaps their three-game winning streak.

The Owls fall to 3-4 on the season, 3-1 with NAIA schools.
The Owls were swept in doubles play with each team losing 8-2.
In singles play, just the No. 1 and No. 2 singles were finished.
Julia Perez Wienese lost 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles, and
Zlata Shuraeva fell 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2 to let Xavier clinch the win.
The Owls return to action on Saturday, March 23, with a neutral match versus No. 9 William Carey (Miss.). The match begins at 11 a.m.
