Owls Softballs Drops Two on Day 2 of THE Spring Games

 CLERMONT, Fla. – The William Woods University Softball team dropped two games on Monday morning during day two of THE Spring Games. The Owls began the day with a 3-2 loss to Spring Arbor (Mich.) and followed with a 3-1 loss to Reinhardt. The Owls fall to 4-8 on the season.
 
The Owls take two days off before finishing up their time at THE Spring Games. On Thursday, the Owls play three games beginning at 9:15 a.m. EST.
 
Owls vs. Spring Arbor
Spring Arbor took an early lead as they picked up one run in the top of the first. The added their second run in the third inning with an RBI error. 
 
In the bottom of the third, Anna Counts hit a triple and scored on a wild pitch.
 
The Owls tied up the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth on Devyn Burton's RBI double to score Alli Massey. The go-ahead run was at third, but the third out came on a fly out to leave the game tied at 2-2.
 
Spring Arbor led off the top of the sixth with a double and followed with an RBI single to take a 3-2 lead. The Owls held them to just one run scored as they grabbed three outs and left one runner stranded. 
 
The Owls were unable to put a runner on base in the sixth and seventh innings, ending the game with a 3-2 loss.
 
Anna Counts went 2-for-3 from the plate with a triple and one run scored. 
 
Brittany Roady (2-3) pitched the complete game, allowed just three hits and struck out six. Just one run scored was earned.
 
 
Owls vs. Reinhardt
The Owls served as the road team in the second game so they started off at the plate. The Owls jumped out to a 1-0 lead early with an RBI double from Alli Massey to score Ari Arnold
 
Reinhardt went ahead in the bottom of the first on an RBI error and an RBI double. 
 
Reinhardt added one more in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to take a 3-1 lead. 
 
The Owls were unable to come up with more runs, ending the game with a 3-1 loss.
 
Celeste Sermeno went 2-for-3 from the plate. Five other players recorded a hit, and Alli Massey recorded the team's only RBI of the game.
 
Madison Ausfahl (2-4) pitched the complete game and was credited with the loss. She pitched six innings, allowed three hits and just one earned run.
