Owls Split with Non-Conference Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill. –The William Woods University grabbed their sixth split of the season at non-conference Greenville University Wednesday evening. The Owls dropped game one 8-5, but bounced back for a 5-1 game two win.
 
The Owls move to 19-22 on the season.
 
The Owls close out regular season with a conference doubleheader at Park University on Saturday, April 20, at 12 p.m. It is still up in the air if the Owls will make the American Midwest Conference Tournament.
 
Game One
 
GC took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two out, two-run home run.
 
The Owls tied it up in the top of the second as Celeste Sermeno singled to center field, bringing home Chyann Hockett and Devyn Burton.
 
GC hit a two-run home run and a three-run home run in the third and fourth innings, respectively, to take a 7-2 lead.
 
The Owls added two in the top of the fifth on a throwing error and a third with Sermeno's second RBI single to the outfield.
 
GC added one more run to take an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Emily Robinett went 3-for-4 from the plate with one run scored. Sermeno went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
 
Brittany Roady (10-7) pitched the complete game and struck out three.
 
 
Game Two 
 
The Owls struck first in game two with Sermeno scoring on Hockett's ground out in the second inning. 
 
In the third, Emma Walker hit her ninth double of the season to score Ari Arnold and give the Owls a 2-0 lead.
 
In the bottom of the fourth, GC got on the board with a sacrifice fly.
 
The bases were loaded with two outs in the top of the fifth as Robinett came up to bat. Robinett cleared the bases with a three RBI double to left-center field, scoring Walker, Arnold and Anna Counts to give the Owls a 5-1 lead. 

The Owls held GC from scoring again to end the game with a 5-1 win. 
 
Counts went 3-for-4 from the plate with a run scored.
 
Madison Ausfahl (7-12) grabbed the complete game win. She pitched seven innings, struck out two and allowed no earned runs.
