Box Score 2 PARKVILLE, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team split with Park University Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale. The Owls dropped game one 7-1, but bounced back with a six-inning 8-0 win in game two.
With the split, the Owls will continue their season in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Final seedings and opponents will be announced once all teams complete the regular season.
The Owls close out regular season with a 20-23 record, 11-12 in the AMC.
Game One
The Owls scored first with a RBI double from
Lindy Wilson to score
Alli Massey. The Owls left two stranded as the next two outs came on fly outs.
Park put up five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead. They added two more in the third with a two-run home run.
The Owls were unable to find home plate again, ending in a 7-1 loss.
Anna Counts went 2-for-3 from the plate with a double.
Celeste Sermeno and Wilson also recorded a double each.
Madison Ausfahl (7-13) started in the circle and was credited with the loss.
Alexis Hassler came in as relief, pitched the remaining 4.0 innings and struck out four.
Game Two
The Owls struck first again in game two with
Emma Walker scoring on
Emily Robinett's single to center field.
Neither team was able to get on the board again until the sixth.
The Owls dominated the inning with five hits and seven runs to take an 8-0 lead. Robinett hit a RBI single to left field to start the scoring.
Kaitlyn Jennings then scored on an error, and Deyvn Burton hit in Robinett for the Owls' third run of the inning.
Following a pitching change,
Amanda Bouchey was walked to load up the bases.
Anna Counts singled, bringing in Wilson.
Ari Arnold followed with a single, bringing in Burton. After the second out, Massey singled to center field to bring home
Dacrie Depping for the Owls' seventh run of the inning. A ground out ended the inning, but the Owls just needed to hold Park from scoring to end the game an inning early.
After the first runner got on base, a strike out and two pop ups ended the game with an 8-0 Owls' win.
Counts, Massey and Sermeno each grabbed two hits at the plate.
Brittany Roady (11-7) tossed the complete game and grabbed the shutout win. She struck out four and allowed five hits.
