GREENVILLE, Ill. –Following the 2019 American Midwest Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, junior Megan Van Harn was named the AMC Outstanding Track Athlete of the Year. Van Harn finished with two event wins. The Owls placed third overall out of 10 with 152 points.

Hannah Ehlinger also grabbed an event win in the high jump.

First place finishes were named First Team All-Conference, second place finishes earned Second Team All-Conference, and third place finishes earned Third Team All-Conference.
 
The Owls next compete in the Fighting Scot Invitational hosted by Monmouth College on Saturday, May 4. 
 
Sprints
Van Harn won the 400-meter dash and 800-meter dash for a combined 20 points. She beat out 12 others in the 400-meter dash with a 59.80 final time. In the 800-meter dash, she beat out 26 others with her 2:22.23 race time. Alicia Engelbrecht also competed in the 800 and placed seventh (2:36.40).
 
Van Harn also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash finals, earning five points and tying for third in the WWU record book with her 26.44 time. 
 
Kerkula placed fifth in the 100-meter dash finals with a 13.04 race time and eighth in the 200-meter dash with a 27.79 time. Combined, she earned five points for the team.
 
 
Mid-Distance 
Engelbrecht placed seventh in the 1500-meter run as well, earning two more points for the Owls with her 5:12.62 race time.
 
Ryan Esterline placed third out of seven in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Her 12:56.07 finish was enough for six points. Josie Phillips placed fourth with a 13:42.90 time, earning five points. 
 
Distance
In the 5000-meter run, Whitneigh Drown placed sixth for three points with her 19:50.63 final time. Kimi Putnam placed eighth for one point with a 20:30.44, and Elizabeth Luebbert came in ninth.
 
Relays
The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Caitlin Hood, Naomi Kerkula, Courtney Richardson, and Megan Van Harn, placed third. Their 4:12.86 time earned the team six points.
 
The 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Hood, Kerkula, Shannon McIlhenney, and Richardson, also placed third with a 53.47 time, earning six more points for the Owls.
 
Hurdles
Van Harn placed third in the 100-meter hurdles finals after qualifying during day one. She finished in 15.98 seconds for six points. Hood placed fifth with a 17.43 time, earning four points. 
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, Richardson placed third with a 1:12.98 race time, earning six points. Kerkula placed seventh with a 1:18.62 time, earning two points.
 
Throws
Van Harn placed second out of 22 in the shot put, earning the team eight points with her 12.07-meter throw. Katie French placed fifth for four points with an 11.48-meter throw. 
 
French also placed fourth in the hammer throw, earning the team five points with her 40.66-meter throw. Ananiah Talton came in sixth for three points with her 37.98-meter throw.
 
Pole Vault
Caitlin Hood and McIlhenney placed fourth (2.58m) and fifth (2.43m) in the pole vault, respectively. The two earned a combined nine points for the Owls.
 
Jumps
Ehlinger won the high jump with her 1.62-meter jump. The first-place finish earned the team 10 points and placed her third in the WWU record book. Kylie Zamboni-Cutter placed ninth with a 1.37-meter jump.
